Is there anything I'm doing wrong that means I am unable to connect an Amelia Customer to a Wordpress User account?
At the moment it only allows me to "Create New" and doesn't return any results when trying to search for that user that already exists in the main Wordpress User section.
I'm having to manually match them up in the database using the externalID column, which is a real pain in the backside.
We have option Automatically create Amelia Customer user – If this option is enabled every time a new customer makes an appointment they will automatically get a WordPress user with the Amelia Customer user role and email with login details from WP, and that WP user would be connected to the customer created in Amelia.
If someone is already a WordPress user, and they book an appointment for the first time in Amelia while logged in to WP, the customer created in Amelia will be connected to that WP user and they will get the Amelia Customer role in WP (there are plugins for managing multiple roles in WordPress, such as User role editor).
This way they will have the same login info for the Amelia customer panel and WordPress.
Yeah that isn't the issue I'm having, I turned the create user option on about a year or so into the site's life, we have a lot of users that are just 'Customers' and not 'Wordpress Users', so I need to stitch them together and the back-end just doesn't work.
All newly added people work fine, it's just working through the older ones that doesn't seem to be right.
As I showed in those screenshots of the dropdown, it can't find any users, something must be broken somewhere.
The reason why you cannot connect is most probably because there are no WordPress users left with "Amelia Customer" role that is not already connected to the customer in Amelia. If you want to connect the already existing customer in Amelia to the WordPress user, you would need to create a WP user with the "Amelia customer" role and connect it to the customer in Amelia.
Hope this helps you.
Please let us know if you have any other questions.
Please provide me a temporary WP-admin (administrator) user for your site where this happens, so we could log in and take a look ‘from the inside’ as that’s the most efficient way to see and resolve the issue.
We do not interfere with any data or anything else except for the plugin (in case that’s a production version of the site), and of course, we do not provide login data to third parties.

There are over 200 "Wordpress Users" that would match a potential Amelia Customer, so it's definitely an issue.
