Thank you for your interest in our plugin and sorry for the late response.
Linked tables can be updated if you only change the values of rows. If you add, remove, rename or reorder columns, the table generated from the external source might break.
If you're creating a table linked to a Google Spreadsheet, you can modify the data in the Sheet, and the wpDataTable generated from that sheet will automatically update the data once the page is refreshed. If you're using the older method, please note that there's cache on Google's side, so it can take up to 15 minutes for the new data to be shown in the table, but with the newer, API method, there are no issues like this.
If you're creating a table linked to an Excel, or a CSV file, please note that the files need to be uploaded in order for it to work. They are, by default, uploaded to wp-content/uploads/YEAR/MONTH/ folders and in order to change the data in the wpDataTable, you'll need to edit the source file in the corresponding folder.
Helle, thanks for your Information so far. I‘ve been able to create a linked table (csv) and show this in a wordpress site. I‘m also able to update data by upload new version of csv (same data structure but other content)
But: i have bought pro version and have downloaded pro plugin zip
If i want to install this by plugin installer it tells me: the link is already old. I download the zip directly from my account.
If I'm not mistaken, you see "The link you have followed has expired" error?
That's WordPress' weird way of saying the upload limit on your site is lower than the size of the plugin. Please take a look at the article attached to my response, and if you have any questions after reviewing it let me know.
I can see that one of my colleagues is assigned to that other ticket, so he'll respond as soon as possible.
I took a look at it, and if I understood correctly - you want to remove empty cells from the table? You can only do that by removing them from the CSV file itself. Once a table is loaded from the file, it can't be adjusted. The only other thing you can do is to hide the entire column if it's entirely empty.
I want to filter these rows which have an empty value in one specific column. I can use filtering at frontend side, but i want to use a special filter before the content comes up first time.
Unfortunately, that's not possible. An empty value is not a filterable value, so it can't be included in the filters, and you wouldn't be able to filter per empty value.
If you already purchased the plugin, and you don't need the full (pro) version, you can submit a refund request through our store (https://store.tms-plugins.com/). I'll forward this to our developers, but I'll also ask you to add it as a feature suggestion on this page.
Firstly, I would like to sincerely apologize for the delayed response as we have been experiencing an unusually high number of tickets. I am sorry that it has taken longer than usual to respond to your concern and your patience is highly appreciated.

Thank you for the video and the explanation, it clearly shows what you were after.
It is not possible to edit the table from our plugin's end when it is linked to source data such as Google Spreadsheet, Excel, CSV, and other methods.
Basically, the only editable tables which can be linked to existing sources are SQL Query based tables, because with this method we are calling data from a database, and we can edit this data;
so any rows you edit on the source Sheet will reflect the output table;
but it is not reversible, this type of table can not be edited from our plugin's end and thus it is not possible to keep a connection "both ways" and have an editable table which will pass any editing back to a Sheet.
need to know if the pro version is able to update an existing linked table e.g. price infos which are shown on a site

Not possible? Then I don't need pro

Hi, Preston.

Thank you for the video and the explanation, it clearly shows what you were after.
It is not possible to edit the table from our plugin's end when it is linked to source data such as Google Spreadsheet, Excel, CSV, and other methods.
Basically, the only editable tables which can be linked to existing sources are SQL Query based tables, because with this method we are calling data from a database, and we can edit this data;
but in a case when you connect/link a source Google Spreadsheet - our plugin is only able to output this data to a table;
so any rows you edit on the source Sheet will reflect the output table;
but it is not reversible, this type of table can not be edited from our plugin's end and thus it is not possible to keep a connection "both ways" and have an editable table which will pass any editing back to a Sheet.
If you wish to make an editable table from a Sheet - you will have to import the Google Spreadsheet data and make a new Manual table.
In this case, any link is lost between the source Sheet and our Manual Table.
Later you can edit that table from the plugin,
you can also call SQL Query tables from it;
and you can update it by uploading a new/updated Sheet;
I hope that this clarifies the use-case - let us know if you have any questions.
Thank you.
Kind Regards,
Miloš Jovanović
