Hi - my client noticed that when you choose one of the filters (example: Caliber) and try to start typing an option next to the search icon within that filter, it doesn't work. Whatever you type just disappears and the "nothing selected" appears.
Our developers realised that, if you use Cascade Filtering from Powerful filters, in combination with search on a selectbox or multiselectbox, it is not going to function properly;
so at the last couple of updates, they have completely disabled this option.
You probably have one of the older versions of wpDaTaTables, because you can still enable this option.
The developers are doing their best to improve this so that the search can be used on selectbox and multiselectbox for Cascade filters;
But at this time it is best to simply disable the search on the cascading selectbox/multiselectbox, or to update the plugin to the latest version, where we removed the option for now.
In the future, when the devs add a working solution, we will implement it again in the plugin.
OK I understand. However, I believe I am at the latest version of the plugin (Powerful Filters 1.3 and Wp Data Tables 4.3) and the search option still appears at the top of the individual filters. Is there a way to just make that search option disappear so it doesn't look like it's a possibility to search the individual filters?
The option on each column fop "Search in selectbox/multi select box " is not enabled, but the search icon is still there, as you can see https://shootersworldpowder.com/reload-data/
Yes, i can see what you mean, i will report this to our developers, to see if we can make some kind of "automatic disabling" for users who already had this enabled before, and then updated...
It seems that the table simply left the old setting, after the update.
What i did here, i had to quickly disable Cascade filtering, so that i can "save" that the filter search on the filter selectboxes is now properly disabled;
then i re-enabled Cascade filtering, and it seems better now :
So, i will pass this to developers, they will do their best to come up with any possible improvements for the future;
but at this moment it is a bit of a workaround which i did for you.
Our client is upset about this, but the truth is this particular feature has never worked, right? He is acting like it is a new problem, but I think it's just something he discovered recently. Can you confirm that it has never worked properly? We've told him there are plenty of work around, but that at this time there is no timeline for when that feature will work.
I am truly sorry to hear that the client feels that way, but i understand.
- Yes, we can confirm, i apologise, i did not explain everything correctly before, i was not 100% sure myself,
but i got confirmations, when the Powerful filters add-on was created, the search on the selectbox/multiselectbox never worked as intended, we just made an oversight on this and released it with the possibility.
The developers did their absolute best to test everything before launch, and it seemed it will work, but later discovered that it has issues.
Then they decided to remove it completely, but it took some time to see if they could find a workaround, or to disable it without confusing the users, especially the ones that tried to use it already, if that makes sense?
So we made that "tooltip explanation", when you hover over it, and disabled it for the time being.
The developers are still intensively working to make the search on checkbox/selectbox filters work with Cascade filtering, but we don't have an ETA when they will finish it.
Once again my apologies for not being able to correctly explain everything before.

Hello, EllisonEngenius
Thanks for reaching out to us
This is a bug that we encountered some time ago.

Let me know if you have any questions. Thank you

OK thank you!
Hey, EllisonEngenius
You're welcome, i am happy to be of any kind of assistance or at least to advise.
-
The developers will do their best to create a fix to disable this automatically for users, in case they had it enabled, like we mentioned previously;
but of course, they will also work on adding the search for selectbox/multiselectbox with Cascade filters to work in the future.
Thanks again, and if you have any other questions, please don't hesitate to open a new ticket.
Kind Regards,
Miloš Jovanović

No worries! I think I got the gist of it all along. I just wanted to double-check. Thank you and good luck to everyone trying to figure it out!
