I am pretty sure we should be able to provide you with a workaround to hide table with CSS, if it is empty; just have to test this out a bit, and i will come back with some results.

To edit the empty translation content; can you please elaborate more on that?

Do you perhaps mean, something like this - to change what it says when the table is empty ;

I got a report back from the developers on this.

The string that you wish to translate is located in 

wp-content/plugins/wpdatatables/languages/de_DE/wpdatatables-de_DE.po

so, you will be able to use POEdit to edit it ( or Loco Translate).

But for hiding the empty tables, unfortunately, the developers are not able to give us any solution at this time;

we don't have any workaround example,  and it is not available as a built-in feature, so it would demand custom work at this time;

the devs will do their best to add this feature as soon as possible. I can't guarantee an ETA, but i passed the suggestion to them, it will be placed on the to-do list.

I will pass this to them, but please feel free to search on this page, 

 to see if someone may be already suggested this feature. If you can't see it, feel free to add your suggestion there and as more people vote, the feature will move higher on the priority list.
