Is it possible to extend the services with extra custom fields? We would like to use Amelia for one of our clients but we would need to add more information to each service.
For example, if you need to add additional information that the customers can input during the Booking Form, you can add custom fields; please check more details on how it works here;
-
But if you perhaps meant to add Extras to Services;
Extras – Extras allow you the possibility to add additional services or products customers can buy when they are scheduling the appointment. By click on the “Add Extra” button, new options will appear:
I'm looking for a way to add extra fields to input more information about a service, not extras that can be bought. For example, I'd like to add a field to upload files or add an extra description field when adding a service.
I tried to do this with the Advances Custom Fields plugin, thinking the services and other aspects of Amelia were custom post types, but that didn't work.
So this text appears as a hyperlink that opens a new tab (target="_blank") and takes the customers to your Terms & Conditions without them leaving the booking form. So the custom field on the back-end would look like this:
As you can see, we made this radio button a mandatory field, so no one can book an appointment without checking the "I agree" button.
-
So basically, if you need customers to download anything, you can use the same method as shown on that example;
-
Or if you simply wish to add custom description for Service, with something that you can upload as part of it :
Description – Here you can add a description that will appear on the front page if you use “Front-end Booking Catalog”. The description field supports HTML, so you can use it here in order to better customize your description.
- * Important to note, if you switch Service description to HTML mode,
don't switch back to Text mode because anything you did as custom HTML would be lost in that moment.
-
Let me know if this is what you needed. Thanks.
-
Additionally, I just wanted to point out that we have pages with Demos, that you can use to try out the plugin's features - https://wpamelia.com/demos/
and there is a 15-day money-back guarantee period, so if you purchase the plugin, you can safely fully test it out,
we would assist you with our support along the way, and if it doesn't fit your needs you can request and receive a refund in that period.
I don't need the customers to add more information, but want to add more information to the service or event itself. I want to add more fields to the screen where you add or edit an event/service, using the html-mode in the description-box would be to confusing for our client to use and this would limit our styling options when outputting the data on the front-end.
I also would need to make some required fields not requires since we would be using this plugin to add workshops and theater shows instead of personal appointments with doctors or other individuals. Is it possible to change some fields to make them not required?
Sorry about that, thanks for clarifying, now i can understand better what you meant.
- I am sorry to disappoint you, but at this time, this is not achievable with any of our built-in functionalities in Amelia.
But we always take great value for any feedback and suggestions from our users, and our developers work to add new features as much as possible, depending on the difficulty to develop certain functionalities, and depending on how many users ask for a certain feature, we push it higher on our priority list of tasks.
- Can you provide a bit more details, examples, of what kind of new fields for editing services and events you would like to see?
And what fields would you like to be optional/ not mandatory?

Hi, Thessa
I am sorry for the waiting time, and it seems i got a little bit confused, not sure i fully understand.
If you wish to add custom fields to the booking form, so that customers can add additional information that you need;
you can use custom fields; they can also have an upload field;
For example, let's say you wanted to add something like "Terms and conditions", here is a workaround :
To add a link to Terms & Conditions, you can use "Checkbox" or "Radio" custom fields. In the custom field you need to add an anchor tag like this:
So this text appears as a hyperlink that opens a new tab (target="_blank") and takes the customers to your Terms & Conditions without them leaving the booking form. So the custom field on the back-end would look like this:
As you can see, we made this radio button a mandatory field, so no one can book an appointment without checking the "I agree" button.

So basically, if you need customers to download anything, you can use the same method as shown on that example;
-
Or if you simply wish to add custom description for Service, with something that you can upload as part of it :
More details about creating Services in details on this documentation page ;
- * Important to note, if you switch Service description to HTML mode,
don't switch back to Text mode because anything you did as custom HTML would be lost in that moment.
