Unfortunately, it seems this is not possible to achieve, i can see what you mean, and you are correct.

At this time, you can enable to automatically generate a WP user, for an Amelia customer, who has booked their first appointment;

- But an Amelia customer can only be created, either by making a booking at the front-end, or by someone adding a new customer at the back-end manually.

But i am curious to try something, if we use User Role Editor Plugin to add an Amelia Customer role to an existing WP user, to see if there is any workaround to achieve that, kind of "automatization" the other way around.

I will work on this and test it, and i will let you know of the results, if we have any possible workaround to achieve it.

It seems that we don't, unfortunately have any workaround to achieve our goal at this time.

Currently, the only two ways are definitely either for a customer ( or someone on their behalf) to make a booking,

or for someone with permissions to add a customer from the back-end manually, and connect them with a WP user;

But sadly, no workaround to automatically create the Amelia customer as described...

We will work on adding this functionality as soon as possible, but i can't say an ETA on it.

I will pass this to them, but please feel free to search through our feature suggestion page, 

 to see if someone may be already suggested this feature. If you can't see it, feel free to add your suggestion there, and it will be forwarded to our management for review.

Please note that it may take some time before the suggestion is brought up for voting since we receive quite a lot of suggestions on daily basis, and as more people vote, the feature will move higher on the priority list.

My apologies, i just got new information from senior colleagues;

- You could try to set a "default WP user role" as "Amelia customer", with User Role Editor;

we can't guarantee this will work perfectly but it should do that function;

and additionally, i want to advise to be careful to avoid creating any mixed Amelia roles on the same WP user, ( it must be only one Amelia role per user), as this can lead to unsolvable conflicts; 

and also to make sure to have only one email per user; that can also cause issues. ( just to note)
