Excel Like Editor Values Uneditable

Hello! I love your product. I am, however, having a quality-of-life issue. I have a big table that I add many records to at once. Using your "Excel Like" tab in the plugin workspace, I am able to update all of these records at once. Super convenient.

The problem I've discovered is that columns that ARE NOT visible on the front-end are NOT editable with the Excel Like editor. This is incredibly inconvenient. I have to, after updating the visible columns with a simple copy-paste across many fields, go into each record one-by-one and update many of the same values over and over again to fully populate my table.

Certainly, since they are not visible, this may not matter. Yet, these invisible columns must be able to be queried by users. If they have no value, they are useless to users query ability. Please advise.

Thank you all again so much for this product. It has helped me realize a vision I've only dreamed about for the past few years.

    Hello Andrew.

Thank you for reaching out to us.

You are correct, as indicated in this comparison table, the Hidden columns are not yet supported by the Excel-like editor, and the editing feature is disabled when this is the case.

The only option you'd have is to edit the table in the regular view, or create a duplicate table only for you (an admin). If you'd go for the second option, you'd basically duplicate the table without duplicating the database table:

The screen you see above is shown when you click on the "Duplicate" button in the wpDataTables list (open the image in a new tab to see a better-resolution image):

So, once you duplicate the table without duplicating the database table (as shown in the popup modal above), you'll generate a new wpDataTable where you can un-hide these columns. This table could either be placed on a new front-end table (to which your users won't have access) or you would edit it from the back-end, but either way, it will also update the original table where these columns are hidden.

    I hope that helps.

    Kind Regards,

    Aleksandar Vuković

I implemented the second option you recommended and it worked seamlessly. I updated my table so fast that I am suspicious of how well it actually went. Thank you for your quick and helpful response! I cannot wait to keep adding to my table.
