I am looking to create a Statement of Work document (Project Management) and I want to use Gravity Forms to get specific information, Project Name, Start Date, End Date, etc. etc. (No worries on this part.) Then I need to provide SOW Instructions, the step-by-step instructions to complete the task. These are in a Word Document or sometimes in a PDF and are several pages long and frequently include photos - so I really want to keep them intact.
My question - how would you suggest that a person UPLOAD the SOW Instruction document (and what format) and then LINK that document in the wpDataTables Table for that project. At some point, I would also like to export everything to a wpReportBuilder (if that is even possible) so that it reads like one contiguous file, and can be printed, emailed, etc.) Any suggestions or ideas would be appreciated.
Hello John
If I understood you correctly, they upload the Word file in the form? If that is true, wpDataTables will be able to recognize the attachment, and include it in the table, so when someone clicks on the attachment column, they'll be able to download the SOW instruction document.
However, we have a rather limiting but where if you add an attachment, or a photo in a form, and if you allow the table generated from those entries to be editable - once you apply the changes, the attachment/photo will be lost. Our developers are working on that, but there's no ETA for the fix. So, this could work with either PDF or Word files as an attachment, but the table generated from the form should not be editable.
As for report builder - it can only pull the data it can read from the table, so you wouldn't be able to include an attachment in the report builder, I'm afraid.
Kind Regards,
Aleksandar Vuković
