1. Is it possible to add additional information fields for personal details that is stored as part of the customers account
2. if the above is not possible are there any membership plugins that you recommend that would work alongside Amelia and provide additional account details fields.

Currently, there is no such feature built-in.
You can try membership plugins (like MemberPress, or Ultimate Member), those we know because some of our users informed us that they are using them. We do not know will it suit you purpose, but you can try them out.
Also when you tried them please let us know if they work for you, we would much appreciate it.
