I would like to know if Amelia has the ability to be used as a scheduling system for a mobile technician. I will be traveling around and doing repairs at individual homeowner locations. I would like, at the very least, to allow people to only schedule service on certain days of the week based on their location.

I understand that geographic filtering is unlikely, so I am willing to create a map with which the customer would identify their "Area" and then be responsible for selecting the appropriate "service" based on that area, then the calendar would show availability only on the days of the week that I want to be in that area.

An example would be that I take the entire area I intend to work in, divide it into 3 areas on a map (just a drawing for customers to look at, not related to Amelia), and then set Amelia to allow scheduling of Area 1 on mondays and tuesdays, Area 2 on wednesdays and thursdays, and Area 3 only on fridays. The naming of the "Areas" would simply be the service type within Amelia, but naming it an Area would help customers understand and choose their location on the map and coordinate that with the day of the week I want to work in that area.

I know that I can do this with another scheduling plugin but it's clunky and doesn't look terribly professional. I would like to know if this sort of thing is possible within Amelia. What I'm asking for is hard to describe, if you need clarification let me know.

    Hello Logan,

Thank you for your interest in our product.

We think that we understood you but in case we didn't feel free to write to us again.

Yes, you can set it up something like that for example:

If you working in London on Monday and Tuesday you can create a service that is called London and you can set up in your working hours that you are working only on that service on those days, same goes for other days.

You can even set up that you are in north London from 09am to 13pm and that you are in south London from 13pm to 17pm for example.

    Something similar to this

Also we have a 15 days refund policy. You can buy the license and try it out and if doesn't suit for your business you can ask for a refund.

If you have any further questions please don't hesitate to ask.

    Kind Regards,

I went ahead and purchased a lifetime subscription to Amelia and it does indeed seem to be able to do exactly what I need it to do so far.

I'm wondering about one thing though, using the method you described and scheduling by area is working great, however, is there any way to change the days I'm in certain areas week by week? I currently have Area 1 Monday and Wednesday, and Area 2 on Tuesday and Thursday, with Area 3 on Fridays.

Is there a way to have Area 1 and Area 2 swap days of the week every other week? Can I set that manually?

    Hello Logan,

We are glad to hear that, and we are here to help.

Yes, of course, you can swap them fairly easily. Working hours and they are tied up to an employee, you just need to go to Ameli/employee/edit employee/working hours and change the assigned services on those days.

    Something like this

    Hope this helps.

    Looking forward to your reply.

Oh I know I can swap them at will, but I want to be able to schedule the days/areas out long term. So that I can plan out my schedule months ahead. Customers will book on my site and I'll likely be booked out quite a few weeks or even months during the height of my busy season.

The issue I'm experiencing is that if a client lives in Area 1 (Monday and Wednesday) but is only available on Tuesdays, I'd like to have my schedule flip flop Area 1 and 2's available days week by week. So week one, Area 1 is Mon and Wed, Area two is Tues and Thurs, but the following week I want it to be Area 2 Mon and Wed, and Area 1 Tues and Thurs. But I can't manually go in and change these back and forth because the schedule will be filling up, I want to plan it out at least a month in advance, preferably a year.

    Does that make sense?

Something like the very crudely drawn calendar attached here.

This is needed to ensure availability to clients in both major areas on mon-thur. Area 3 is projected to be much less busy, hence it only being one day a week.

    Hello Logan,

There is no other way of creating workdays than this. The only other option that we can suggest is to create special days in month in advance but this is also a manual configuration. I'm afraid that there is no other way.

It looks like in your screenshot you have two mondays and two tuesdays on what appears to be the same employee. I can't see how to do that. Does that allow them to switch back and forth week by week?

    Hello Logan,

No, my apologies these are just two different screenshots one on top of the other. There are no two Mondays I just send you two screen shots that you can see how I swap them.

Like we said there is no other way of creating workdays than this. The only other option that we can suggest is to create special days in a month in advance but this is also a manual configuration. I'm afraid that there is no other way.

Thank you for all the help on this ticket, I appreciate it.

Perhaps adding the ability to schedule out locations for an employee far far in advance, similar to days off, would be a nice feature to add to Amelia.

    Hello Logan,

It was my pleasure, we are always happy to help.

As for your suggestion, I'll kindly ask you to add it as a feature suggestion on this page.

Features are pushed up on our "to-do" list when there are a lot of customers requesting those features, so having your vote as a customer can be beneficial to this feature being developed sooner.

And thank you for your kind words.
