Hello. I'm working with a church to digitize their cemetery data. They are currently entering their cemetery data into MS Access. I was able to transfer their current data from MS Access to MS SQL Server Express. Now I'm trying to figure out how to create a webpage that will allow a viewer to search the server for information about the deceased in the cemetery using different kinds of information. For instance, if a viewer searches a last name, I want the webpage to display all the deceased in the cemetery with that last name. I want the same for searching with a first name, or a birth date, or a death date, or first and last name, or cemetery location. All of this data is already in MS Access and in the Server. It might be easier for the church to use Excel to enter cemetery data, so I'm not committed to MS Access nor to MS SQL Server Express if there is a better way to store and access the data. How ever the data is entered and stored, I need it to be easily updateable so that it becomes searchable from the webpage as soon as or shortly after the database is updated by the church. I recognize there are several parts to this project, but can wpDataTables help me significantly somewhere in this process? If it can, I'll make a purchase, but I won't make a purchase until I can understand exactly how it can be helpful for this project. Thank you!
- Generally speaking, everything you described can be done with wpDataTables. There are different ways, depending on what could be the best scenario/setup for you.
- For example, if you use Excel, you can choose to make tables that are linked to the source file, so that, as soon as someone updates/changes anything on it, the wpDataTables will dynamically change with it, and on the front end, users can immediately search, or filter any columns you set up for that purpose, such as, like you said, for example, search the deceased by "last name", or "birth date", "death date", "cemetery location", etc.
The only note, with that setup, is that you won't be able to edit the tables from the WP Admin side, or the front end - it can only be updated from the source.
- There are many methods of how you could create and set up tables, and use various other types of data sources. You could take a closer look at our documentation, which has some step by step examples, and detailed explanations on various methods of setup.
- If you wish to take a look at some examples of tables made by our plugin, you can see the "Table examples" section on the left side of the page.
Contact us further if you need more details or any other kind of assistance.
- And just wanted to point out that we have a money-back guarantee within 15 days of purchase, to know that it is perfectly safe to fully test out the plugin and make sure it suits your project needs.

Here is the main, general section of the Documentation, if you want to get familiar with the general functionality of the plugin. https://wpdatatables.com/documentation/general/features-overview/
And here is a step by step example of a table linked with Excel,
with searchable filters - https://wpdatatables.com/documentation/creating-wpdatatables/creating-wpdatatables-from-excel/
