is it possible to add additional Time / hours a customer can add to his booking? For example: I offer a photo studio which people can book for their needs. So I have a service "Studio Booking" that lasts 3 hours (because that's the minimum time a shooting could last). But what if a customer wants to book it for 4 hours or 6 hours or even a whole day?
Can I adjust the service duration that way, a customer can choose the duration by himself but he has to take at least 3 hours?
Thank you for purchasing Amelia, and for reaching out to us.
You can use Extras for it (Amelia/Service/Edit service/Extras and add an Extra option there). Extras allow you the possibility to add additional services or products customers can buy when they are scheduling the appointment. For example, "Extra Booking", choose the duration (for example, 1 hour), price for this extra time, and maximum quantity - for example, your customer can choose two more hours in addition to the main booking. You can read more about Services and Extras here: https://wpamelia.com/services-and-categories
Another option you can use here is Packages (Amelia/Services/Packages/Add Package). Packages in the Amelia Booking plugin are made to give you the option to create a package of multiple appointments from the same or different services and give a discount to the total price to attract your customers more. You set up the name of you Package - for example, "Photography from Dawn to Dusk". Set up the Duration - Days, and select 1 day. Then at Services tab you choose your Service(s) - for example, Shooting, Make Up and so on. Also you set up Number of Appointments and Minimum and Maximum bookings required. If you set up minimum bookings, for example, to 5, your customer will have to book 5 time slots at once. Since it is 1 day Package, your customer will choose available time slots at 1 day.
Thanks for the quick response. The "packages" addon looks like it could solve this problem and maybe some more. But I fear I have to keep the costs low for my client...
I already thought of the solution of choosing the Extras-function. That would actually work out - if there wasn't another problem: additional to the Extra-hours I have further Extras like "book with model" or "book with technical equipment". These Extras are time relevant and are billed per hour. So if someone books the Extra "model" I can set the price for the model according to the minimum studio booking time (=3 hours). But the price for the model doesn't change if someone books additional hours.
To put it in numbers: studio (=3h) 90,- | Extra: model (=3h) 90,- Total: 180,- That's OK so far
studio (=3h) 90,- | Extra: model (=3h) 90,- | Extra: +1 hour 30,- Total: 210,- That price is actually wrong, because the +1 hour would also cause an +1 hour for the model
Do you see a solution for that?
Well, I could solve this by adding further Extras like "+1 hour" and "+1 hour with model". But I think that would produce too many Extras. Especially when different models have different prices...
The only way I see is to make different services: A= Studio booking only, B= Studio with model X, C= Studio with model Y, ... But I'm afraid that would cause a bunch of variants when that will be combined with other features like the booking of "technical equipment" (studio only, studio with model, studio with equipment, studio with equipment and model....) Phew! I hope I can convince my client to make these features to be not time relevant so we can limit these variants.
I can see the solution with Extras like not using Extra "Model", but using Extra "1 hour shooting with model N" and setting Maximum Quantity to 5 (for example). So, your customer books a studio for 3 hours + 1 "extra hour" + 4 "1 hour shooting with model N".
Or "30 minutes with model N", if your time slots step is 30 minutes.
Also, it is not necessary to give a discount in Packages, you can set up 0% discount there.

I hope it will help.
