and vice verse if I make a change to my name and password in Amelia, it does not reflect with the WordPress user.
However, logging into either still gives me access to “my account” panel or Ameilia employee / customer panel.
Am I missing something here, how do I fix this, why aren’t these changes synced?
There’s no point in having the ability to initially link WordPress and Amelia users, without the ability to be able sync changes made via WordPress or Amelia.
In order to allow existing WordPress users to log both into WordPress (or WooCommerce, or some membership plugin) and Amelia using the same credentials, customers and employees in Amelia need to have "Amelia Customer" or "Amelia Employee" user role assigned to them.
If there's a WordPress user created, but they don't yet have anything purchased through Amelia, you need to enable "Automatically create Amelia Customer user" in Amelia Settings/Roles/Customer, and then - after they log into their WordPress user, once they land on Amelia's booking page, their details will already be populated, and once they purchase the appointment, they'll be able to visit the Amelia Customer Panel without logging in (since they're already logged in as a WordPress user).
I understand all that and that is exactly what I have done. The user has Amelia customer role, however, when user details are changed (i.e. name, password etc) it does not reflect in the WordPress user database.
Why is Amelia using it's own database to store user credentials, why doesn't it use WordPress user database?

Also provide me a temporary WP-admin (administrator) user for your site where this happens, so we could log in and take a look ‘from the inside’ as that’s the most efficient way to see and resolve the issue.
We do not interfere with any data or anything else except for the plugin (in case that’s a production version of the site), and of course, we do not provide login data to third parties.

When you change the password for Amelia Employee through the employee panel, it can't modify the password for WP users, as the logic can't be different for linked and non-linked users. Meaning, an employee can exist in Amelia, and not linked to a WP user, so changing the password for the employee only applies to the Amelia Employee. If the password is, however, changed for the WP user, the same password will apply to the Employee Panel.

This post on WordPress about Amelia is also having the same issue: https://wordpress.org/support/topic/doesnt-link-to-wordpress-users-properly/#post-15063971
