Not really (we definitely need to change the description of this feature in our Change Log).
This means that, by default, the currency symbol for Euro is €, but in the "Custom Currency Symbol" field you can either type "EUR" or paste another symbol.
We had quite a few users that requested their country's currency symbols to be replaced with other symbols or abbreviations, so that's why we added that.

From the version 4.3, it says that the feature below was added.
"Option to edit custom currency so now users can add any currency they need"
Does this mean that they can choose different currencies to pay now?
