    Hello,

What is the DIFFERENCE BETWEEN APPOINTMENTS AND & EVENTS?

I run workshops and I am unsure what would be best to use. I need to be able to take payments, have repeat workshops but on different days of the week / month and it would also be good to have a waiting list incase someone cancels.

Also I want to display a calendar and also be able to have booking options as a calendar in the  actually in the product and/or sidebar:

    Hi Stephanie

Thank you for reaching out to us.

Please have a look at the following links for detailed information about both features

    https://wpamelia.com/appointments/

    https://wpamelia.com/events/

Our step by step booking UI is customer friendly and simple; however, there are a lot of options that you can mix and match to organize it to suit your business in the best possible way; you can check out our documentation for all features Amelia offers, test out our demos; or you can download Amelia Lite to your site and see how it works in real time.

Hello - I have already looked at the links and tested the demos - I was hoping you might just be able to highlight the main differences for me and what would be more suitable for my workshops:

    Thanks

    Hi Stephanie!

Thank you for the kind replysmile.png

(And for the link to your site!)

I see that you have specific times during a day for your workshops, let's start from that.

In Events, you have to create one event with one time (Tuesday 9am -10am for example, or Tuesday - Friday, but let's use a one day example to make it easier).

You can repeat this event Weekly so that every Tuesday 9am - 10am you will have one workshop class.

In services you can do the same, by creating an Employee (like a Teacher for this workshop), and a Service (workshop itself). You would need to create an employee schedule, and set up service duration, in order to have available slots shown in the front end.

If it's important for you to manage your Teachers / Tutors / Employees, services may be a better way to go, because Services have an option to connect Employees to Google or Outlook calendar to help them keep better track of their workshop schedules and attendees.

In Events you can add these Employees as staff as well, and in general set up an employee panel where they can manage their events. However, Events can operate without an employee, Services can't.

When purchasing Amelia you get both; it depends on the personal preference of the business owner which option to use. For example, some clients have Employee schedules as priority due to a high number of employees, or their flexible schedules, so they opt for Services. Some clients have flexible staff, and times when staff isn't needed so they opt for Events.

For both, there is a Calendar option.

Another benefit of Services over Events is that Services have Categories that you can split your workshops into, would this be something you need?
