I do use other platforms for bookings, and sometimes when other platforms book my employees I need to remove them for that specific hour (timing) but not the whole day. What is by far the easiest method of removing an employee from let's say 8:00 am to 9:00 am?
1. If you need to remove this Employee on daily basis and not only once, then you can achieve that by adding a break to the Employee's working hours in the Employee's profile.
2. If you need to "block" this Employee on a particular day, you should create a Special day in the Employee's profile that will include this break as well. Please note that Special days override common working hours, therefore you should re-create the entire working day, not only the break, for example:
Unfortunately, I need to schedule a block on a daily basis and bookings might accrue quite frequently outside of amelia platform, hence the level of workload for recreating the entire day for all employees multiple times a day is unbearable.
This is very shocking news, and I would like to ask you once again, is there any alternative way of just simply block them of.
Something like the first option that you suggested is "give them a break" but in my case on a special day, where you only schedule special daybreak.
It was a brilliant idea, I even forgot about the two-way sync, so now it's all automatic, even better than I planned!
Now both my calendar (amelia and external) are showing up in my google calendar, however, the Amelia booking is still showing the otherwise occupied slots on google calendar, hence I don't see the two-way sync in action yet. Even tho I have enabled the "Remove Google Calendar Busy Slots".
Might be the reason because I just integrated the external calendar in google? Amelia's appointments were there for a year already.
I really hope this works out, as it's way better than expected.
- Appointments created in Amelia, are being transferred to Google Cal (please note that Google Cal sync doesn't support Amelia Events, only Appointments);
- Busy slots in Google Cal are being blocked for booking in Amelia if you enable the "Remove Google Calendar Busy Slots" option in Amelia -> Settings -> Integrations -> Google Calendar. However, events from Google Cal are not being transferred to Amelia.
So it's not fully 2-way sync but more like 1.5-way sync.
Please let us know if you have any further questions.
All these settings look correct. I just wanted to emphasize that events created in G Cal won't be displayed in Amelia, they will only block matching time slots for booking in our plugin.
What about events created in your G Cal (not being imported from any other Calendars), are they getting blocked in Amelia?
PS Please make sure that WP time zone is set to the city format in WP General Settings and that your G Cal has the same time zone.
Thanks for guiding me thru, you have been right. When I created the event by myself they instantly block Amelia's calendar.
The problem comes from the Airbnb synced calendar is imported by URL and those are uneditable, unfortunately, they don't block amelia's calendar (I'm guessing the status is free but not busy). I'm pretty sure there is no other way to import their calendar as I have tried to find it with no luck.
Maybe you guys can come up with something automatic to overcome this situation.
I was so close to the most wonderful solution, real boomer....
Yes, sometimes it happens: imported calendars are not being recognized by Amelia. And the issue is coming from Google's end since Google Cal doesn't assign the same status to the imported events as to the original (i.e. created in this Google Cal) ones.
I will forward this information to our developer team. We simply didn't have enough resources to investigate this issue before, but we recently got new members of the dev team, so, hopefully, we will find a way to overcome this limitation.
Sorry for disappointing you.
Please let me know if you have any further questions.
I'm super happy with the two-way (1.5 way) sync, I never even thought about removing myself from the schedule via google calendar, that's awesome you brought it to my attention!
As of now when I have a new event generated in my calendar that is not recognized by amelia, I do duplicate manually the event with the same field, and the event which is created by me is synced with amelia. It's a minor input from my end so I'm happy this way.

Hi, David,
Thank you for choosing Amelia.

Hope that will help.

Dear Lisa,

Hi Gila!
Do you have Google or Outlook integration on those other platforms that are not Amelia?
If you do, you could connect your Amelia employee to that calendar so that days booked there get blocked in Amelia.
Hi Krstic,
It was a brilliant idea, I even forgot about the two-way sync, so now it's all automatic, even better than I planned!

Thanks a LOOT!
Hi, Dávid,
Thank you for choosing Amelia.
The thing is, Google Cal sync works like that:
- Appointments created in Amelia, are being transferred to Google Cal (please note that Google Cal sync doesn't support Amelia Events, only Appointments);
Best Regards.
Dear Liza,
I'm a little lost over here, why is it exactly 1,5-way sync?
Let me just put down my situation in detail, and just confirm if I'm able to sync or I need to adjust anything.
- "Remove Google Calendar Busy Slots" is activated
- Both Amelia and the external calendar is syncing
- I don't have amelia events only appointments booked
- The external calendar which is actually AIRBNB calendar is creating busy events, which are not being blocked in the front end of Amelia...
What do I miss? or how can I get the airbnb events being blocked on the calendar of Amelia?
Dávid,
All these settings look correct. I just wanted to emphasize that events created in G Cal won't be displayed in Amelia, they will only block matching time slots for booking in our plugin.
