I would like to send reminders to my client before their appointment so I followed your instructions and downloaded wp crontrol and did you find the event type PHP cron event.
I have a attached my screenshot of my wp crontrol screen. Do you know why it might be missing?
Please check if you are using the latest version of WPCrontrol; in case that you do and the issue persists,it would be needed to reach out to WPCrontrol tech support here, to ask why is the PHP not given as a type option.
Yeah I'm also having this problem for a while now. I think the whole tutorial made by the Amelia team is now obsolete because the plugin they mention (WPCrontrol) doesn't have this feature anymore, and a bunch of people already raised this issue.
It was not that big of a deal before but now that it's possible to send notifications whenever we want, that would be nice if we could have a workaround.
Could you please clarify when this issue occurred?
We are not aware of any changed in the Crontrol settings, and previously same issues were always caused by blocks on the hosting provider's end (when a hosting provider doesn't allow to add PHP events). I see that this option is still available with Crontrol version 1.10:
Ah, that's interesting. If you can see it but we can't, it probably means this is because of another plugin or because of the host provider, indeed. I'll try to look deeper into this issue in the following weeks.
Sorry for not being able to provide you with a proper solution.
However, according to my experience, this issue occurs when custom PHP code is banned on the hosting provider's end. So, you can start your investigation with that, I believe.
Please feel free to contact us if you have any other questions.
My issue was that my security plugin had disallowed file editing, which as a result hid that "PHP cron event" option selection in WP Crontrol. I had to uncheck "Disable File Editor" in iThemes Security.

Hi, Jarno,
Thank you for reaching out to us.
Could you please explain what issue you faced?
If there's no PHP Cron event option in the Crontrol plugin, most probably it was blocked on the hosting provider's end.
Best Regards.

Ok,
we worked around this by inputting the Cron commands in CLI on the server.
Jarno,
Thank you for sharing your solution with us.
Best Regards.
For others that may have the same problem:

Hey Ryan.
Thank you for sharing that with everyone.
I'll inform the rest of the team, so they're aware of this as well.
Kind Regards,
Aleksandar Vuković
