The website I'm working on has people sign up for memberships for the site's products. When they sign up they have a WordPress user created and have the "Subscriber" role. I am adding Amelia plugin so that customers can book appointments. When an existing member books through Amelia then that user has their account created to access the Customer Back Panel. Everything ok up until here. I read on another ticket that I can assign an existing WordPress user the Amelia Customer role. If I change a User's role from Subscriber to Amelia Customer, does that user lose their functionality from the website? Like logging into their members area on the site?
A second question is how exactly are Amelia Customer accounts integrated with existing WordPress users?
Unfortunately, at the moment there's no option to set recurring payments aka subscriptions in Amelia itself. One of the reasons is that Amelia doesn't store any payment details (what makes it so GDPR-friendly, on the other hand).
We are always looking for ideas on how to make Amelia better. So if you have a couple of minutes, please suggest this feature on our website.
Probably, it can be achieved with some third-party plugin or service, such as WooCommerce's Subscription, but we didn't test it with any subscription plugin, that's why we can't be sure if it will work flawlessly.
Our integration with WooCommerce is payment based, however, for now, only for single transactions.
Amelia Customer can be created by activating Automatically create Amelia Customer in Amelia > Settings > Roles, but this role is only for accessing their appointments in the backend.
Alternatively your customers can access and edit their appointments via Customer Panel.
Thanks for your response. I am not interested in setting up recurring payments at the moment, but thanks for the info. What I want to know how can I integrate existing WordPress users with Amelia. I don't want to have to create a separate Amelia user for people that are already WordPress users. Can my existing WordPress users book an appointment without having an Amelia Customer role?
2. Can Amelia auto populate WordPress user info into it's booking form? Like name and email?
They will be integrated just given a new role, Amelia Customer, by activating the setting automatically create Amelia Customer; their existing WordPress names and email will be used for the access to the backend; for the frontend access Login for Amelia panel needs to be granted without creating, again, a new WordPress user.
Yes, it can be autopopulated by activating Check for existing email when booking in Roles
