As usual, every time I update your app, email notifications stop and the timezone doesnt work.

    1) Email notification: I have the correct settings, and I also have less secure apps with my gsuite account. Test emails dont work, I keep getting the error. I updated to latest php version 8.0, still doesnt work.

    2) If I VPN to another country, the booking times dont change.

This is not the first time I open a ticket about this. Why does this keep breaking? Can you please offer a solution as I have 2 customers waiting to book?

    Hi, Jad,

Sorry for the delayed response, we don't work on weekends.

    1. Could you please clarify what is the email service that you use? Also, that would be very helpful if you provide us with a temporary WP Admin login, so we will be able to investigate the issue from the inside. You can post the credentials as a private comment to this ticket.

    2. Time zone is being recognized by Amelia according to the Time Zone settings on your computer. So, if you have the "Show booking slots in client time zone" option enabled in Amelia -> General Settings, then please change your operating system settings to another Time Zone and test booking again.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

    Hi Liza,

I spoke to my hosting company and they tried a few things and confirmed nothing is wrong from their side. Yet the error still continues today. Any suggestions? Again, everything was working fine until I did an amelia update. Nothing changed from a hosting company perspective, I changed nothing in my gmail settings.

Thanks Liza. Fastcomet is saying that whatever was done here https://tmsplugins.ticksy.com/ticket/2427889/ should fix the issue.

An additional piece of information: I subscribed to sendinblue, and i installed wpmail plugin, and set up amelia to work with wpmail and the email work.

However, with SMTP it fails to send. Ideally, I dont want to be using sendinblue as I already pay to use gsuite. So not sure why your app fails to work on my website with gsuite and smtp settings you have on your website, and with another service it works fine.

    Hello Jad.

The solution from that other ticket is not relevant here, since it's a year old, and the changes that fixed that issue have already been implemented in Amelia.

When trying to send an email with SMTP settings, this is the error in the console:

message: "SMTP Error: Could not authenticate."

When I use my Gmail (also a part of our company's G-Suite) in Amelia Settings/Notification Settings, your email notifications work fine:

So, the issue is not with Amelia, but your credentials, or permissions on your Gmail account. You need to allow less secure apps on your account ([email protected]), not within the G-suite itself. I would also suggest using port 587, method TLS, and if that doesn't work either, try changing the password for your Gmail account, and in Amelia's Notification settings as well.

    Kind Regards,

    Hi Aleksandar,

Here's my issue with what you wrote and my experience so far dealing with your company on this problem:

    1) I said before I already have gmail setting set to on to allow less secure apps. Its been like this for over 6 months.

    2) I said before that I tried both settings for SMTP.

    3) I also tried on my personal gmail and still the email wouldn't send.

    4) I was told its a host server issue, which turned out its not.

    5) Now im being told its a gmail issue, when again, nothing changed in those settings, nothing changed with the server company. The only thing that changed is that I updated your app. Please explain to me how updating your app breaks things at my server company side, or from gmail side? When again, nothing changed from their side?

Honestly this is so frustrating as its just running in circles for over a week and getting nowhere except you and your colleagues blaming other companies for a problem that happened after I updated your update.

    This is hopeless.

Thanks for the support anyways, I'll move on to another plugin or pay for another service like sendinblue to use an app that was advertise to work with SMTP and have proper support, only to be neither.

Feel free to close this issue as I have no patience anymore to deal with your company over this issue.

I'm sorry to hear that, Jad, but if you're not willing to troubleshoot this further, there's nothing we can do, unfortunately. Notification settings are as simple as they can be - just like any other mailing provider - you enter the host, select the port, and enter your credentials - that's all the plugin needs to work.

I've shown you that the notifications work with correct credentials (my credentials), so the plugin is working exactly as it should. The update has been live for over a month, and if the update broke anything, we would've already been swamped with tickets from other customers.

Since I can use my credentials, on your website, and successfully send an email, that (again) shows the plugin is working fine, so your issue lies elsewhere.

The message I've shown you is generated by your server - it's your server's response:

message: "SMTP Error: Could not authenticate."

After I replace your credentials with mine, that error goes away and the email notifications work. Sorry once again to hear you're going to abandon the plugin, and best of luck in your future work!
