I have 3 rows in a table. I was able to add filters for the first 2 columns but the "Allow filtering" checkbox is disabled on the third column, and I cannot figure out why.
Each row in that column is the first character of the word or phrase in the first column. I intended to use that column to create a filter where the user can select the character to show only rows that start with "A", for instance.
Photo of screen attached, showing a "not-allowed" cursor over the disabled checkbox. No warnings or explanation is present.
I can't say why this field is disabled for filtering before I take a look at the table.
Please provide me a temporary WP-admin (administrator) user for your site where this happens, so we could log in and take a look ‘from the inside’ as that’s the most efficient way to see and resolve the issue.
We do not interfere with any data or anything else except for the plugin (in case that’s a production version of the site), and of course, we do not provide login data to third parties.

Before you switched off the "Enable search block" in the "Sorting and filtering" tab above the table, you probably disabled this column (in column settings) from being included in the Global search. That disables filtering for that column completely, so when you disabled the "Enable search block" option, the filter was still unavailable, because it preserved the previous settings.
I temporarily enabled the "Enable search block" chek box, which allowed me to include this column in Global Search in the column's settings, and after that, I was able to turn to filter on and off. The "Enable search block" setting has been deactivated, and you can now configure the filter for this column as well.
I do not Global search is enabled but ti appears I need to in order to filter by that column. I allowed global search to allow other features to be enabled but but I hid it with CSS so the data table looks and acts how I want it to.

Great. I got it working.
I do not Global search is enabled but ti appears I need to in order to filter by that column. I allowed global search to allow other features to be enabled but but I hid it with CSS so the data table looks and acts how I want it to.
Thanks!
You're welcome, Eric
I'm glad to hear it works.
