You say the original licence was purchased on Envato, which is not an annual subscription-based purchase code, but instead, a lifetime purchase with support limited to 6 months after purchase. So, you are still entitled to all updates of the plugin, as it's a lifetime license.

Because Envato's API is limited to linking 3 requests per second you will probably need to click on "Activate with Envato" a few times until the license is activated, but once it is activated, it will stay active and you will be able to update the plugin through the Plugins page.

I can see that this licence was purchased from TMS store so you will need to activate your licence in order to use it.

To activate the licence you need to enter the purchase code that you have received in your email after the purchase from our store in the Activation tab, wpDataTables setings.
If you cannot find this email please follow the next instructions:.

• Access the store page here,
• Choose Forgot Password option,
• Enter the email that you have used during the purchase and click Send recovery email,
• Use the password and email to log in to the store page,
• Copy the purchase code from your dashboard page on the store and paste it in the activation field in wpDataTables settings

There is no need to make another purchase through Envato, the plugin will work regardless of where the installation file was obtained.
