I have been using Amelia for two years now, and despite all its pitfalls, we love it. It's a good tool that keeps improving and we are very thankful for that.
I just find it absolutely shameful how some translations are included in Amelia. For example, traditionally, "employee" was translated in Arabic as لاعب which is "player" like a football player or a game player. I have corrected this on every single website I managed. I think this has been fixed in the latest versions.
There are many such silly translations.... but go find the time to report those one by one.......
Today I was SHOCKED to see that under "set recurrent appointment", in services, "disabled" is translated as معاق !!
This is a an old rude way of calling people with special needs. Please take this proper translation and implement it:
غير مفعّل
which literally means "not activated" and is the correct translation for a disabled function.
How are you going to improve future translations of Amelia?
How about investing in a human being reviewing what seems to be machine-based out-of-context translations? There are many good translators on the likes of upwork

Since none of us from the company are native speakers of Arabic, and most of our translations that are not our native are done by our customers. Because customers are changing the text and also wrote in Arabic, there is no way for us to check that and see if that is the correct translation.
Forgive me, but it is not professional to entrust an unknown customer with an unknown understanding of the software and its uses, with the quality of your translation.
I would happily volunteer to review all updates to the translation to Arabic. How can we organize this ?
Usually, the only problem we have with translation is that they are not full, since after each update there are new features, which obviously are not being included in the new translates.
We always inform our users that they can modify the existing translations with POEDIT or Loco Translate. In this case, they can not only translate missing words and phrases but also modify translations according to their business.
For example, if you want to use POEDIT then please follow these instructions:
- You need to download and install POEDIT.
- After that open the program and open the file from your website located in ameliabooking/languages/fr_FR/wpamelia-fr_FR.po
- Translate all the strings that are not translated
- Save the translation.
- Go to ameliabooking/languages/fr_FR/ folder and copy these two files called wpamelia-fr_FR.po and wpamelia-fr_FR.mo back to your website in the location ../wp-content/plugins/ameliabooking/languages/fr_FR/.
Please note: this fr_FR language code is for French translation just for an example, and it should be replaced with Arabic code.
When you finish that, it would be very kind of you to send us the translation, so we can include it in our next major update so you don't have to copy this folder after every update. Basically, that's how we got all the languages except English.
Can we do it this way: if you modify or re-translate the current translation following the instruction I provided in my previous reply, you will send it to us, so we will replace the existing file with it? And then, in the next updates, you and our other Arabic-speaking users will be able to use it.
You also won't have to replace the old file with the one that you translated after each update, so it will be more comfortable for you as well.
Please let me know if you find this solution suitable.
