Hi, I like the look of wpDataTables Pro to make an editable and growing list of film titles, with columns for name, year, director, rating, etc. Excel editing would be great for this.
Is there anyway I could add an alphabet bar in addition to the search function? Indeed, is the search bar responsive if one puts in a single letter (eg: M - for Man) so that all the titles starting with M come up? Or is a full title necessary.
Also, does it guess the nearest to the search criteria as well? eg, if one entered Man with golden gun, would it find The Man with the Golden Goose as well? I'm thinking of the way people get film titles slightly wrong!
Unfortunately, there's no alphabet bar available in the plugin.
The global search searches for all entries in the table, but you can use column-specific filtering, so your users can only search per title, or per year, or per director, etc.
Each column can have "Exact filtering" enabled, but this doesn't have to be the case. If it's enabled, the filter won't work until the whole word, or content of the cell is entered, so entering "M" will not return any results, until the entire title is added. With this option turned off, it can return anything, but it can't prioritize "Man" over "The Man", etc.
You can use URL Link columns to add external links to the table, but you can also use string-type columns in combination with HTML anchor tags.
Please feel free to test the full features of the plugin on our sandbox site before purchase.

Finally, are the cells linkable to outside sites?
Many thanks.
