I am here on behalf of my client - EmbodiMe. We have installed Amelia on their site as my client wants to offer Classes and Courses/Workshops online. However, I am having difficulty working out the best way to organise the back end and what is and is not actually possible with Amelia.
We want to set up a system in conjunction with Amelia and a Memberships plugin to allow clients to book classes either individually, or to purchase a weekly/monthly membership which allows access to all classes.
I have tried playing around but am still unsure as to whether I should be adding the classes as Events or Services! We want a setup where clients can view a calendar (preferably monthly but 2-4x weekly lists would work) with all classes available listed on here - as Amelia does when you add them as recurring events. So I assumed it would be correct to add them as Events.
However, we will be integrating Amelia with Paid Memberships Pro - how on earth do I do this?! I want members to be able to book Events (or Services if that is the better way to organise the classes) for free, and we also want each Class to have a link to a page where we will embed a recording after it has occurred.
I am really struggling to wrap my head around how to organise this. Apologies if it is simple and I am just missing something!
To be honest, what to choose - Appointments or Events - depends on your preferences. We have customers who use Events and customers who use Appointments for their schools as well. So there's no one "correct" way. But it seems like Recurring events might be the most suitable option for you.
I'm afraid I can't tell you precisely if the Paid Memberships Pro plugin will work with Amelia. We don't have such integration and we didn't test their compatibility. One of our customers shared his experience with Memberpress:
"Memberpress has an addon to link your membership levels to any WordPress user role. So you can link your levels to the Amelia Customer user role. So each time a member signs up, also assigns the member to Amelia Customer. During the first appointment, all fields are grayed out since Amelia recognizes them as an existing customer".
Probably it can work this way: if you link Paid Memberships Pro users to WordPress Users and enable the "Automatically create Amelia Customer user" option in Amelia -> Settings -> Roles Settings, it will work the way you require. However, at the moment it's just a theory.
Please let us know if you have any other questions.
We have requested a refund as it took too long to get a response and we couldn't get the system to configure properly.
I would suggest that Amelia looks really seriously at adding a collaboration with a membership plugin or integrating this type of setup natively as it is extremely common to want to offer bulk or membership options to clients!
Thank you for sharing your experience with the plugin, we will take it into consideration and, hopefully, we'll find a way to implement this functionality.
