If I understand correctly you need to create a pivot table?

I am sorry to disappoint you, but unfortunately something like this is not possible with the plugin's built-in features.

You would need to create a Pivot table in the database; then prepare a MySQL view (a stored query), which will return the data from that Pivot table, call it e.g. “view1” and then build a wpDataTable based on a simple query like “SELECT * FROM view1″.

Creating custom queries does not fall under our support so we will not be able to help you out with that.

Based on your explanation:

• I am manually creating a MySQL table for users with 41columns,  When i draw data from table I do NOT want the MySQL columns displayed as columns i want them displayed as Rows otherwise massive page blowout.  I am having this issue with several tables where the MySQL columns default to table rows and I don't see the ability to adjust view orientation.

With plugin features, it is not possible to transpose columns to rows. If you creating MySQL based table then there is a solution with creating a table from the Pivot table as Blazenka explained in the previous post. Please note that you will need the id column that is auto-increment after which you will be able to use editing in wpdatatables.

Another option is to hide columns in a collapsable button with a Responsive feature. The video explains how you can use it on desktops as well.

Also, you have the options for table layout with Scrollable and Limit table width.

When you editing rows with standard editorall editable columns will be shown in modal one under another.

Also, you are able to use Inline editing but in this case, all cells have to be visible.

Also, you have an option with Excel-like editing but this editor has some limitation which you can find it on this link.

So the most important thing is that all rows in your custom table have to have unique ide so you can choose it in wpdatatables as ID column for editing.

This will be nice if you can record a video of how some of your files that you are getting from your customers look like, what they have, what you need, and how need to look like the end so we can see is there some solution with our plugin.

Sorry to hear your frustration. 

If you can spare a couple of minutes of your time, I'd like to explain.

Please note that wpDataTables is not a database management tool as PHPMyAdmin, Workbench or any other tools from this area. wpDataTables is a WordPress Plugin.

Transpose columns to rows are not possible with the built-in features of the plugin. It is not a bug, we just do not have that functionality. What we have is a workaround is to create Pivot tables in your database tool as is explained many times in this ticket and then prepare a view that will return data with transpose columns to rows.

 We are not sure where you get that popup and which add-on you mean exactly.

All our add-ons are separate paid products and they are not included in any plan of wpdatatables licence, which means if you need it you will need to buy it separately. Add-ons are not bug-fixes for our main plugin, they are extending functionality.

We are sorry that you "think" that this is included because there is no such place or explanation in our resources where it says that this is included.

If you mean on Master-detail add-on, then this is also not possible what you need exactly. MD have the functionality to show row data in a popup or in a custom post or page, but NOT transpose columns in rows in the table itself.

We are trying to help all our customers to make a solution for their request:

1) With built-in features (if they are not aware of them)

2) With some workarounds(with developers hooks, small custom codes, our add-ons..) if is possible.
