Before I adopt Amelia as my appointment scheduler to replace Picktime.com I would like to know what happens if different clients have the same name?

As a barber I’ll have an endless number of new client over time. I already have more than one client with the same name, while others go by more than one (James = Jay). Does Amelia know the computer being used? WiIl it auto-fill for them?

I also have a request:  could you please add a Time Blocker option to the +New Appointment button? I love this feature on Picktime because if there is a hole in my schedule one afternoon I can block out any amount of time without worrying someone will schedule an apppointment to see me. The flexibility is great as is the relief of knowing I’m not missing out. It also enables me to make my lunch break flexible around the times that work best for a day’s clients.

Barber shops are traditionally walk-in only businesses, but we have been advised to operate by appointment during the Pandemic.  Many people still don’t think about getting a haircut in advance, so I have numerous last minute schedulers I want to fill the gaps in a day’s schedule.

I really like that Amelia enables clients to cancel and reschedule themselves because once open my focus is on the client in the chair. I also look forward to having Amelia send them notifications if I have to cancel it—with COVID and our likelihood of suddenly learning we’ve been exposed open communication maintains trust & a loyal clientele.

I hope the name thing isn’t a big issue so I can begin testing Amelia before I reopen. I also think I’m not the only one who may enjoy the flexibility of blocking out random times any day.

    Hi Amanda,

Thanks so much for your interest in Amelia.

The email address should be unique, there should be no problem with names.

We do not have block button, but you can do this by adding event in your google calendar that is connected to Amelia. Just add busy event in google calendar and that slot will be blocked in Amelia.

Okay, I'm glad to hear the email address is what matters; however, what do I do to schedule clients who DO NOT have email addresses?

On Picktime.com, if I created the appointment from a phone call, the email address wasn't necessary. Pre-COVID, all clients just showed up to get a haircut. Now there are hoops they must jump through & if they can't, I have to or I lose their business. Therefore the easier it is the better. This is another reason the Time Blocker function is so handy.

So, is it possible to schedule someone on Amelia without an email address?

If so, could I do so and still keep them as separate individuals? I'd rather not create a junk email address to lump them all as one.

I don't use Google Calendar, so the work around you suggest is no good to me for blocking out random time. I'd prefer not to have many different apps or websites up in order to operate on a daily basis.

    Hi Amanda,

You can sat that email address is mandatory or not, the sam ting is for phone, if your client do not have email or phone you will not be able to send reminders, so one of those two should be there. If non of them is mandatory that it will be connected by name and surname.

You can suggest this feature on our feature suggestion page and we will monitor requests: https://wpamelia.cnflx.io/boards/feature-requests

Hope this helps and let me know if you have further questions!

Oh, well that gives me some decisions to think about. I'm so glad to know this.

Thank you so much for the rapid replies.

I think I feel comfortable enough to give Amelia a try. So many features would ease my "additional work" load.
