Hi George, I had the same issue before and to get around this I simply downloaded the latest version and when you upload you get to update the current version then make sure you add your license if required. Not sure why this was required but it worked for me, here are some instructions for downloading and installing the plugin again.

Here are some instructions on downloading

If you are using hosting where you are not allowed to your FTP  then follow those instructions:

    1) Download the zip from the store

    2) Delete Amelia plugin from WordPress Plugins page

    3) Click on Add new on Plugins page

    4) Click on Upload plugin on Plugins page

    5) Choose previously downloaded ameliabooking zip file

    6) When uploading is done, please Activate Amelia plugin

    7) Clear server and browser cache.

Please note that the plugin has a size of around 8 MB so if yo are not able to upload the plugin through WordPress plugins page, then you need to increase following:

    upload_max_file size,

    post_max_size ,

    max_execution_time

You should be able to find these values in your php.ini file or on your hosting panel. If you can't find it yourself please ask your hosting provider to provide it.

Thanks Mike you're a life saver. I didn't even think of that. Thanks for the solution. Hope in the future they fix it.

Just installed and wordpress asked if I want to replace the one I had installed already. I said replace and voila! Replacing it meant I got to keep my settings and data intact.

    Hello George T,

Apologies for replying a bit later, Friday was a non-working day and we don't work on weekends.

Glad to see you managed to update Amelia manually, and a fellow user helped in the process. Thank you for letting us know, and thank you , Mike, for helping out.

For any future references, Amelia can be updated automatically if it is activated in Amelia -> Settings -> Activation or manually by following the instructions here.

(If you have version 2.9 or a newer one please check if the option Delete plugin tables is disabled in Amelia -> Settings -> Activation before updating the plugin manually ( it is disabled by default, but just in case). If this option is enabled , deleting Amelia on the Plugins page will delete Amelia tables and data from the database as well.)

If you have activated Amelia, but it can't update automatically, try with deactivating and activating it back on the WP Plugins page, and then try updating it again.

I see you mentioned deactivation of the purchase code in Amelia -> Settings -> Activation in the ticket title - this should not happen again from version 3.0 of Amelia, we implemented some fix regarding this in this update.

If you have any other questions or concerns feel free to open a new ticket and we will gladly help out.
