I don't find a way to let the customer purchase multiple appointments at once without the need to book them in advance. I'm looking for a multi-appointments payment that counts back bookings one by one and directs the customer to the payment process once he has used up all appointments he paid for upfront.
I'll make use of the WooCommerce integration, so this could play a role in this.
Looks like something totally common to me – I hope that Amelia supports it!
Unfortunately something like this isn't possible at the moment with our plugin. Currently we are working on the packages feature which will allow buying a package of services where customer will be able to book just one appointment and book the rest later but paying for all of them at once during that first booking process, but it will be necessary to schedule at least one during that booking process because we don't have a process of just buying a package. This feature will be ready in a couple of weeks, however you should know that automatically recharging will not be possible. Once customer books all appointments from the package if wants a new one, customer will need to purchase it again.
One thing Isidora forgot to mention is that the Packages feature will not be included in the Basic license (which you currently have). It will only be included in Pro and Developer licenses.
It would be a good idea to use the Black Friday offer to switch to a Pro license, if you need Packages. If you can, of course.
Will that mean that the revenue will be added to the appointment the customer booked. Like first booking which includes the packages will get 1/10 of the revenue. Second booking will get 1/10 of the revenue and so forth.
Also does the first booking makes the package price and the customer can only book cheaper appointments?
We don't add revenue to the appointment. In the appointment you will see total price of the package, we cannot split it like that since some packages will maybe have different services in it so the prices will be different and cannot be change equally.
Customer pays for the whole package at the first booking, so all other appointments from that package that are booked later are booked free. Customer will be able to see the number of appointments left for booking in the customers panel and from there customer will be able to book those appointments.
Thanks for the thorough reply! Your support is great!
I hope to try out the package feature this year. I am planning to use WPAmelia for a kind of multi-vendor website but keep the finances to myself and make a payout each month to my customers(staff) selling subscriptions on my website. With the package deal this sounds promising and really doable just like I want. The only thing is I need to hand calculate the comissions for each appointment. No big deal yet in my opinion.
any news on when that new feature is going to drop? I need something similar.
Will it enable customers to book a package of *however many appointments they want* or will we have to pre-configure packages with a set price and a set number of appointments?
Will it be possible to book multiple appointments right away in one go, instead of having to do that later one by one via the customer panel?
Btw. maybe consider editing Lukas's lifetime license key out of the post, as this is public? ;)
1. We are giving our best to have a large update with this feature until the end of the year.
2. Packages will need to have a set number of appointments and price. Price can be set as a summary of those appointments (prices of different services or amount of the same service) or you can enter a smaller price and show a discount to the customers like a promotion that they will get if they buy a package instead of one appointment.
3. It will be possible to book all appointments from the package right away, but also to book one or few of them and we hope that we will have ready another option here.
If you need customer to decide the number of appointments for booking, maybe our recurring option is more suitable for you, check it here.
We have just released the update with Packages feature. Packages feature will be included in our Pro and Developer licenses, it will not be a part of the Basic license since it is a really large feature and we needed to make a difference between license since we have users that said that our Basic license is too complicated. Currently we have 30% discount on the licenses so you can upgrade to Pro license for less money than usuall.
Why is the title of the booking panel Book Appointment? I'd rather expect Book Package.
Why does the continue button open the calendar when I set both Minimum and Maximum bookings required to 0? Regarding UX I bet that every client hits Continue and never the gray arrow.
Do you have a schedule for the German translation?
also: If I choose Custom price and a discount, why does the booking panel show the calculated price only plus a 'Save X%' banner? I'd expect to see the undiscounted price as well, so that the client understands that she/he gets a discount.
I should add that I just changed the shortcode from [ameliabooking service=1 employee=1 location=1] to [ameliabooking package=1 employee=1 location=1] – but I think this is correct, isn't it?
I'm just gonna go ahead and add my remarks on this thread also.
Two small things I noticed:
1. When selecting appointments of a package, the current month is shown - despite being booked out. I have to click the Arrow > up top to manually move to the month with the next available appointments. In other views, the calendar will automatically open up to show the month with the earliest available appointment.
2. The column for "Location" is shown even if the Location feature is not used. It just shows an empty column. It would be great if it were just not shown. Maybe there is some code snippet that I can manually add to hide it?
It would also be great to hide the "Employee" Column if there is only one Employee in use on my site. This applies to all kinds of displays of the booking form actually.
uh, oh, 'Save' XX% should not be translated to 'Speichern', but to 'Spare' (the imperative of the verb Sparen, i.e. 'economize'). Speichern is e.g. saving a file.
I'm sorry but the Configure Placeholder panel for the Package Appointments List doesn't work for me. None of the placeholders in the dropdowns are inserted upon selection, and when I insert %package_appointments_details% nothing is sent to the purchaser of the package in the Package Purchased confirmation email.
I guess that this information sent to the client would allow her/him to book the single appointments after purchasing a package – but I just don't get how you figured this to work.
Thank you for so much suggestions. I will try to answer them all and we will try to implement some things very soon.
1. Why is the title of the booking panel Book Appointment? I'd rather expect Book Package. - Can you please give us more details about this? If you mean on changing on the customer panel then I suppose that we can implement this.
2. Why does the continue button open the calendar when I set both Minimum and Maximum bookings required to 0? Regarding UX I bet that every client hits Continue and never the gray arrow. - This should not happen. If you set minimum 0 and maximum 0 then you should be redirected to the Customer info step right away. Can you try this once again please?
3. Do you have a schedule for the German translation? - We receive translations from our users because non of us speaks German, so I cannot tell for sure when someone will send us the translation.
4. If I choose Custom price and a discount, why does the booking panel show the calculated price only plus a 'Save X%' banner? I'd expect to see the undiscounted price as well, so that the client understands that she/he gets a discount. - This is a good suggestion, I will save it and forward to the team so we can see if we can add a total price somewhere in one of our next updates.
5. I should add that I just changed the shortcode from [ameliabooking service=1 employee=1 location=1] to [ameliabooking package=1 employee=1 location=1] – but I think this is correct, isn't it? - we didn't add option for Step-by-step booking form to preselect only one package but we will add it in our future updates.
6. When selecting appointments of a package, the current month is shown - despite being booked out. I have to click the Arrow > up top to manually move to the month with the next available appointments. In other views, the calendar will automatically open up to show the month with the earliest available appointment. - this will be added soon, totally good suggestion.
7. The column for "Location" is shown even if the Location feature is not used. It just shows an empty column. It would be great if it were just not shown. Maybe there is some code snippet that I can manually add to hide it? - Good suggestion for column, will remove it. At the moment you can hide it only with a CSS code, but we will try to release a new update today and hide it. I have forwarded to the development team.
8. It would also be great to hide the "Employee" Column if there is only one Employee in use on my site. This applies to all kinds of displays of the booking form actually. - I forwarded this as well, will see if we can implement as soon as possible.
9. uh, oh, 'Save' XX% should not be translated to 'Speichern', but to 'Spare' (the imperative of the verb Sparen, i.e. 'economize'). Speichern is e.g. saving a file. - I have forwarded this to the team and will be added in the next update that we will try to release today.
10. As for the %package_appointments_details% placeholder, you cannot add all placeholders that you see once you click on the 'placeholders' option beside this package appointments details placeholders. All other placeholders that you add from the regular list will not be replaced with data because those placholders are for the appointments (like appointment price and other similar placeholders).
Thank you, these suggestions are really good, we will give our best to add some of them in this new update that we will try to release today (if not today then certainly tomorrow). Others will be added after.
I have another remark about the %package_appointments_details% placeholder.
Currently this is how the appointments are shown in the confirmation mail:
DateTime: 31. May 2021 10:30 DateTime: 31. May 2021 15:00 DateTime: 28. May 2021 15:00
Why the "DateTime" in front of the date? That's not necessary, especially as my mails are not in english.. 😅
Ideally the name of the month would also source from the language set in the Wordpress, not just default to english. I'm sure all international customers would appreciate that :)
1) and 2) [and 5)] I'm sorry, this was due to the fact that I used a wrong shortcode, works.
10) I still don't get how you figured the process to work. When I book a package, the client just gets the confirmation that he booked it, but no further information where and how to schedule the appointments and see the remaining appointments from the package.
Regarding the customer panel I suggest that you add a loader to this panel as well – first for loading the panel, and second for loading its content, e.g. the package information.
Please excuse me, now this works – maybe I was just too tired to see the edit icon...
I also tested a setup with minimum and maximum bookings and found that once booked, the appointments can't be rescheduled in the customer panel as it's possible with appointments not booked as part of a package. Why?
For my client's business the main advantage of the package feature is to be able to not require the people to book appointments in advance. Thus, using the customer panel is imperative. Plus, it lets them reschedule and cancel appointments.
@Isidora, @3): Don't you have set up a serious plugin translation project somewhere to let me contribute? I can't believe you just wait until somebody sends you a translation proposition?
1. As for the DateTime in %package_appointments_details% you can change it of course. Just click on the "Configure placeholder" and the modal for setting up will show.
2. "I still don't get how you figured the process to work. When I book a package, the client just gets the confirmation that he booked it, but no further information where and how to schedule the appointments and see the remaining appointments from the package." - You can configure the email template, write to the customer that he can book the rest of the appointments in the customers panel, add a placeholder <a href="%customer_panel_url%">Customer Panel Access Link</a> so they can access the panel. You will need to add a customers panel to the frontend page via a shortcode, and in the Roles Settings on the Settings page, in Customers tab you can decide whether customer will be able to access that link via a token without password or the password will be mandatory. If you choose password once the customer access the panel through the link from the notification it will ask him to setup a password before entering the panel.
3. "Regarding the customer panel I suggest that you add a loader to this panel as well – first for loading the panel, and second for loading its content, e.g. the package information." - I have forwarded this to our team, we will see what we can do for the next update.
4. "I also tested a setup with minimum and maximum bookings and found that once booked, the appointments can't be rescheduled in the customer panel as it's possible with appointments not booked as part of a package. Why? "- I am not sure for this, the rescheduling should work in the same way like for the usual appointments. I forwarded this to the team.
5. Unfortunately we don't have translation project. We plan to submit two official translations in the next months but translating the plugin to 30 or more languages would be a serious project and would require lots of time and people. We plan to translate website too but we hope that then people will not contact us in those languages assuming that we speak them. For the next couple of months we plan to resolve the limitation of using the plugin in multiple languages by adding the option to switch language when creating services, categories, email templates and custom fields and defining their names in multiple languages.
Can you please tell me in which way you can contribute?
I realized that I need to be able to set the earliest date for the first appointment bookable in a package, so that e.g. for a package sold today for appointments in March the purchaser isn't able to book dates between today and March in his customer panel.
Doesn't this sound like something for the next update?
German is the first language in which we plan to add an official translation. The part of the team that works on this is on a vacation so I cannot tell if they already have the person for this but as soon as they get back I will check the progress and let you know if we need help.
As for the earliest date for booking, I will forward this but this is not so small feature like the other suggestions that you two added so it will not come in the next update probably but we will track if there are more votes until we add other suggestions so we will decide then.
I the adding the earliest date for booking is more complicated than adding step-by-step booking for only one package, please head for the latter – it's a possible solution for the issue I have with the packages.
(you mentioned it in a former thread: we didn't add option for Step-by-step booking form to preselect only one package but we will add it in our future updates.)
I am not sure that I understood this but as for the option of adding one package in the Step-by-step booking form we had this in our plan and as soon as we've released the update we planned this feature for the next one so we are working on it.
I forwarded the 'earliest date' option to our team to see when we can implement it.
I just tested the Customer Profile in the booking management panel for the first time.
As soon as I enter the profile, the spinner in the Save Changes button starts spinning and I can't save any changes because the button doesn't react on click.
I can leave the profile by clicking on Appointments.
These are the questions for our premium support in Amelia section of the support platform, they will need to investigate these and provide help, can you please contact them?
Hi,

Hi Paul,
I hope that Packages will be ready soon and that it will match your needs so you can finally make everything for your business.
Have a nice week.
Hey guys,
any news on when that new feature is going to drop? I need something similar.
Will it enable customers to book a package of *however many appointments they want* or will we have to pre-configure packages with a set price and a set number of appointments?
Will it be possible to book multiple appointments right away in one go, instead of having to do that later one by one via the customer panel?
Btw. maybe consider editing Lukas's lifetime license key out of the post, as this is public? ;)
Thanks,
Daniel
Hi Daniel,
oops, thanks, I just edited it myself.
Best,
Lukas
Hi Daniel,
Thank you for your inquiry and for noticing this.
As for your questions:
1. We are giving our best to have a large update with this feature until the end of the year.
2. Packages will need to have a set number of appointments and price. If you need customer to decide the number of appointments for booking, maybe our recurring option is more suitable for you, check it here.
Best regards.
Hi Isidora,
any news on this, maybe a rough estimate on when the new feature will drop?
My client is breathing down my neck on this.. :D
Thanks!
Daniel
Hi Daniel Tyllack,
We have just released the update with Packages feature.
Best regards.
Hi Isidora,
thanks, that's great news. I got the Developer plan so no worries there :)
Have a great start into the new year!
Daniel
Hi Daniel Tyllack,
I am really glad to hear that! If you have any suggestions regarding the Packages feature we will be glad to hear that.
Happy New Year!!!
Hi Isidora,
I'm glad to be able to test the packages feature while my clients are on holiday.
Will let you know if I find any reasons for suggestions.
Happy New Year!
Kind regards,
Lukas
Hi Lukas,
I am glad to hear that.
Happy New Year!
Hi Isidora,
I have already some questions:
Why is the title of the booking panel Book Appointment? I'd rather expect Book Package.
Why does the continue button open the calendar when I set both Minimum and Maximum bookings required to 0? Regarding UX I bet that every client hits Continue and never the gray arrow.
Do you have a schedule for the German translation?
Best,
Lukas
also: If I choose Custom price and a discount, why does the booking panel show the calculated price only plus a 'Save X%' banner? I'd expect to see the undiscounted price as well, so that the client understands that she/he gets a discount.
I should add that I just changed the shortcode from [ameliabooking service=1 employee=1 location=1] to [ameliabooking package=1 employee=1 location=1] – but I think this is correct, isn't it?
I'm just gonna go ahead and add my remarks on this thread also.

Hi Lukas and Daniel,
Thank you for so much suggestions.
3. Do you have a schedule for the German translation? - We receive translations from our users because non of us speaks German, so I cannot tell for sure when someone will send us the translation.

Thank you, these suggestions are really good, we will give our best to add some of them in this new update that we will try to release today (if not today then certainly tomorrow). Others will be added after.
Best regards.
Hi Isidora,
thanks for the detailed feedback!
I have another remark about the %package_appointments_details% placeholder.
Currently this is how the appointments are shown in the confirmation mail:
DateTime: 31. May 2021 10:30
DateTime: 31. May 2021 15:00
DateTime: 28. May 2021 15:00
Why the "DateTime" in front of the date? That's not necessary, especially as my mails are not in english.. 😅
Ideally the name of the month would also source from the language set in the Wordpress, not just default to english. I'm sure all international customers would appreciate that :)
Cheers,
Daniel
Hi Isidora
Thank you!
Kind regards,
Lukas
Ok, I think I got it – I need to include the customer panel placeholder in the Package Purchased notification.
I suggest that you include it by default, unless you give me a good reason why not.
Why?
@Lukas
A good reason to not include the customer panel placeholder in that email is that not everyone uses the customer panel.. :)
E.g. in my case people have to book a fixed number of appointments directly upon booking. No further action required, so no customer panel is needed.
@Daniel
Hi Lukas and Daniel,
Best regards.
Hi Isidora,
Thank you very much!
@1) and 4) I already managed to understand how you figured it
@5) I can contribute to the German (including Swiss German and Austrian) translation. I know how to do it in PoEdit.
Kind regards,
Lukas
OMG Isidora,
Appetite comes with eating ;-)
I realized that I need to be able to set the earliest date for the first appointment bookable in a package, so that e.g. for a package sold today for appointments in March the purchaser isn't able to book dates between today and March in his customer panel.
Doesn't this sound like something for the next update?
Hi Lukas,
German is the first language in which we plan to add an official translation.
Best regards.
Thank you, Isidora, looking forward to see that feature asap.
Good night from wintry Switzerland!
Best,
Lukas
Hi Lukas,
You are welcome.
Good night from Serbia!Just so you know, we have non-working day tomorrow due to the holiday so I will be back on Friday.
Best regards.
Hi Isidora,
I the adding the earliest date for booking is more complicated than adding step-by-step booking for only one package, please head for the latter – it's a possible solution for the issue I have with the packages.
(you mentioned it in a former thread: we didn't add option for Step-by-step booking form to preselect only one package but we will add it in our future updates.)
Thanks,
Lukas
Hi Lukas,
I am not sure that I understood this but as for the option of adding one package in the Step-by-step booking form we had this in our plan and as soon as we've released the update we planned this feature for the next one so we are working on it.
I forwarded the 'earliest date' option to our team to see when we can implement it.
Best regards.
Hi Isidora,
Thank you, this is perfect.
Best,
Lukas
Something else: Amelia is awfully slow, in the backend and loading step-by-step booking panels in the frontend.
The php (v 7.4) options settings don't seem too low to me, but probably you can recommend better settings?
PHP memory: 512MB
max_input_vars: 16000
max_execution_time: 300
WP_MEMORY_LIMIT: 512M
Looking forward to learn from you,
Lukas
Hi Isidora,
I just tested the Customer Profile in the booking management panel for the first time.
As soon as I enter the profile, the spinner in the Save Changes button starts spinning and I can't save any changes because the button doesn't react on click.
I can leave the profile by clicking on Appointments.
Best,
Lukas
Hi Lukas,
These are the questions for our premium support in Amelia section of the support platform, they will need to investigate these and provide help, can you please contact them?
Best regards.
Hi Isidora,
sure I wil, thanks for all your support.
I wish you a great weekend!
Kind regards,
Lukas
