I just installed the wpdatatables plugin. I made the connection to my external MS SQL database. Then I tried to create table with "SQL Query" and "Generate a Query..." method. Both of them don't work. "Generate a Query..." method display my databases, tables and then colums but at the end it says:
"No results found. Please check if this query is correct! Table Constructor needs a query that returns data to build a wpDataTable."
Did you select the separate DB connection from the database drop-down before choosing the table creation method?
If you did, and you can see your tables and columns, the issue probably lies in the query generated by our constructor.
The MySQL query constructor is not an ‘ultimate generator’, it should be treated as helper for constructing a suggestion of a query, by trying to ‘guess’ what you want. We are constantly working to improve it, but SQL is such a complicated and flexible language that fully automating the process for constructing queries is hardly possible. Consequently, the more complicated your request is, the higher is the probability that it will not return exactly what you need. Play around with the resulting query to achieve better results.
Please provide me a temporary WP-admin login for your site where this happens, so we could log in and take a look ‘from the inside’ as that’s the most efficient way to see and resolve the issue. We do not interfere with any data or anything else except for the plugin (in case that’s a production version of the site), and of course we do not provide login data to third party.

Please log into http://store.tms-plugins.com/ with the credentials you received in your e-mail when you purchased the plugin, then navigate to Purchases/wpDataTables, and if you're still within 15 days from purchase you will see the "Request Refund" button.
If you don't see it, and you're using a screen with width lower than 1600px, you will need to scroll through that screen horizontally to see the button.
After you submit a refund request, you will not receive any confirmation emails, but you will see that the button is grayed out:
That means that the refund request is successfully submitted, and that you will receive your refund in 5 - 7 business days.
