is there anything in your roadmap to be able to define default settings for new tables instead of having each new table set up manually?
As I am about to switch to wpDataTables, this could be a true show stopper...And I am sure many other users that use multiple tables and/or multiple users will highly appreciate this feature.
We are planning to create default settings, above the table, template. So, Display, Sorting and Filtering, Editing, Placeholders, etc. Column and row settings will not be included in this.
Also, this is not something that will be released in the next few months, so I can't say it will be available soon.
If you talk about default settings, is this something like defining specific sets of settings, one can selext (e.g. from a drop down) to apply to a table? This would make it easier to apply a specific set. Given many people work to create content, it is vital to have given standards one has to use. And in terms of usability/convenience, if you alsways have to define each tebale individually, this makes the front end look inconsistent.
Maybe from that point of view, you might want consider it a bit more beyond your current plans... ;)
Thanks for the suggestion, Markus, but there are a lot of other aspects our developers need to think about. They need to think 10 steps ahead, and see what issues may come up if they do it one way, then if that fails, what issues may come up if they do it the other way, and so on.
At the moment, I can suggest creating a manual table with one row. Then, you can configure that table the way you want, and save it as a template. You can then click on "Duplicate Table" in wpDataTables section (the tables list), and use that table to generate new tables with those exact settings.
