Is it possible to change a single cell or cell font color in a table? Conditional formatting will not work for me since conditional formatting applies to entire rows and not single cells.
(e.g. cell one should be red if it is greater than 10, but cell two should be red if it's greater than 20. This is not possible when applying conditional formatting to a whole row. It would be easier to just change the cell colors one at a time.)
The far right column is the standard deviation of the current earnings yield compared to the historical average. Cells in red are standard deviations which are "negative" or "bad" (you might not want to invest right now).
The problem is that these cells do not have anything in common that could be expressed in a column-based conditional formatting. A convenient solution would to mark "bad" or "negative" standard deviations in red using conditional formatting. Unfortunately standard deviations are always represented as positive numbers so the use of a conditional formatting with negative signs is not an options.
The ideal situation then would be if I could manually select cells to have red text/background.
My understanding, however, is that manually selecting a cell for a specific color is not possible. Is this correct?
Unfortunately, you're correct about that - you can't set custom color for individual cells yet.
We're about to launch a new update that will include a new table type - Simple Tables - those tables are a whole new type of tables, and they can't be edited from front-end. But you will have options to format each cell individually.
That update should be released today, so please try it out once it's released. If you don't like the plugin, you can file for a refund within 15 days from the day of purchase, and we'll refund your money.
I first want to apologize for referring to you as "Alex" in my last reply. I don't know what I was thinking.
While it is unfortunate to hear there is not currently a way to customize individual cells yet (though hopefully one day), I am excited to hear about the new table type.
I will definitely get a subscription and give it a go, and hopefully it will fulfill my needs, which I think it will.

Hello Bret
Thank you for reaching out to us.
Conditional formatting is applied to columns, not rows. You cannot add custom rules like this, because they override each other.
What does this use case apply to - to have two values in the same column have different conditional formatting rules?
Kind Regards,

Alex,
Thank you for your reply.
Here is a link for the table in question I would want to create: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/e/2PACX-1vTjpLKfw3twTUMcsM7ALWiYnmetKKTeNDtoWmAdq8v3_usKD_RGEf-A7BujVbii5JiB4Nkp39Yi_hQs/pubhtml?gid=76880909&single=true

No worries, Bret, Alex works just fine.
We released the new version yesterday, so please feel free to check it out.
