We're looking to provide our customers with booking services through Amelia and I wanted to know if there's a white label option in your roadmap (and if there's a tentative date for it)?
The plugin can already be white labelled via time-consuming coding, so why not just add it as an option for dev licences?
I have 3 contacts who would like to buy a developer licence, but are dissuaded due to having to pay me every time they want to sell Amelia to a client.
To anyone who wants to white-label their installation, the following works:
You can do this in CSS, negating the need to repeat the process every time the plugin updates.
This will swap the logo and changes will persist throughout plugin updates.
The solution is here already, but TMS is dragging their feet for some unknown reason in a pretty dev-unfriendly way.
Aleksandar was telling people on AppSumo in MAY 2020 that they planned to add features like this soon.https://imgur.com/aqsepsL but it's not even on their roadmap as far as I can see.
It's not a difficult change to make, but not making it makes our jobs difficult.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts with us about this.
One major concern comes into question here, though. What do you mean by this:
I have 3 contacts who would like to buy a developer licence, but are dissuaded due to having to pay me every time they want to sell Amelia to a client.
Per our Terms & Conditions you are not allowed to resell the plugin to anyone, regardless if you have a developer license or not. You are the owner of the license, and you are allowed to create websites for your clients using Amelia, but to sell it as your own is a direct violation of the Terms & Conditions. Please explain this statement to us, as it could be that I simply misunderstood what you're saying.
As for quoting my response on AppSumo, I never said that white-label is something that we plan. Adding options to change the logo and the name of the plugin through plugin's built-in features - yes, so you don't have to go through code or CSS:
JS files are modified (minimized) in public version of plugin (in our development environment is accessible), but unfortunately I can not send you our source code because that is the policy of our company.
All those files that have extension .vue are compressed and minimized in JS files that is very hard and not recommended modifying. So in order to add some other features you can unminify the js and customize it.
If you know how to do this, you're free to try, but the Developer license is not strictly used by actual developers. There are hundreds of people who simply use the license to activate the plugin on multiple websites, with little to no knowledge of actual coding. White-label will be discussed in the future, but as you mentioned we don't have it on our roadmap at the moment.
Having worked in web design+development for over 6 years I can assure you that I understand what a developer licence is for, and how it works. I am of course not selling licence keys on, or installing Amelia on websites separate to me. My meaning was, of course, selling Amelia as part of websites that I build or significantly upgrade. I offer full website design with booking included, please let me know if this falls outside the licence terms. My associates are web designers, but do not work in development very much (calling me in when needed), and would therefore be beholden to me to change the branding for every project they produce. They are keen on positioning themselves as specialists in creating booking websites. As companies solely offering booking websites, my fees for simply changing a logo are an ongoing cost that they're unwilling to pay.
That said, I find it rather difficult to believe that your team is particularly interested in how these licences are used, given that it has taken so long for you to hide licence codes, but hey-ho.
Your response on the other thread was, again, yet another example of waiting for the gold tyre, to the detriment of your customers.
You say that complete white labelling is not planned, but then immediately discount the silver tyre solution I have given you. If I can achieve it on my client installs, (albeit via laborious CSS and plugin messing around) then you can as part of your plugin.
I can't speak for the other developers here, but in my case specifically, being able to change the logo easily (achieved via the silver tyre supplied) would satisfy (in my mind, at least) your commitment to the AppSumo folks. Many people on Appsumo would have stacked many codes, based on your promise that they could change the branding easily, soon. One of the reasons I felt so comfortable buying a developer licence (at full price) was that I'd read many comments saying it was planned, and a few (from yourself, too) that it was coming soon.
An upload field for a logo is not difficult, Aleksandar. It really isn't.
Sure; perhaps it doesn't satisfy every condition to be a complete white label solution (gold tyre), but it's enough of a silver tyre to satisfy your commitment, at least in the short to mid-term.
I believed that was the case originally, but wanted to make sure. You wouldn't believe how many times we ran into duplicates of Amelia, being sold as another plugin (while the back-end pages would still show "wp-admin/admin.php?page=wpamelia-services#/services" for example). Thanks for being cool about my question, as I was not implying anything, just asking for an explanation.
You are, of course, allowed to create and sell websites with Amelia installed on them.
Covid-19 shifted our focus to Zoom, Packages, and some other features, so adding options to change the logo, and the name were put aside. Again, thank you for the silver tyre, I will definitely forward it to our development team, like I did for the password yesterday.
I'll see if I can push this with our developers, so it's included sooner rather than later. I'll paste the same response in the other ticket, for visibility.
We still haven't included the White Label option in Amelia, but we plan to include it in the future. Most likely, it will be a part of the Developer license, but I don't have any detailed info at this time.
We chose not to create a public roadmap exactly because of this situation.
There are a lot of things that can go wrong during development, testing, during planning, so if we were to say "Amelia White Label will be released in the 4th quarter of 2023" and we fail to deliver (because of issues that we're not obligated to disclose), there would be a lot of upset customers, thinking that we deliberately lie to them.
That, most certainly, is not the case. If we say we're planning on releasing something, it will be released eventually. Will it be developed and tested in more or less time than we initially thought is required, is something we can't predict. We, as a company make our own decisions when it comes to features, functionalities, and improvements we plan to include in Amelia, and, even though we have a public Feature Suggestions Page, having a feature with a lot of votes on the list is not a decisive factor. We already implemented quite a few of them, but again, it's not only whether the feature will be useful to many but whether we would be able to develop it in a way that it's really useful and doesn't affect other aspects of the plugin. We tend not to release anything until we're 100% sure that it works fine.
Another reason why we don't have a public roadmap is our competition - we simply don't want other companies (who most likely have a lot more resources and manpower) to see our idea and develop it before us. Fine, they can copy it from us afterward, but they will need to spend a lot more time making it look different and behave in a different way, but it was originally our idea.
When it comes to white-labeling, it's not a snap decision our management can make. You're asking us to allow everyone to change the trademark, remove any mention of Amelia, and (essentially) sell it as your own solution. While this is contrary to our Terms & Conditions, as I mentioned before, we are going to include a white-labeling solution at some point in the future but this will most likely require us to amend our T&C, which also requires time and engagement of lawyers since those are written by professionals. I can't specify the time when it will be released, nor can I specify how many (and which) options it will include. As soon as it's released, it will be advertised on our website and our social channels.
As mentioned in my previous responses, this is not something that needs to be worked on actively. It's a decision our management needs to make.
We would need to allow everyone to alter the trademark, eliminate any reference to Amelia, and essentially market it as your own solution. This goes against our Terms & Conditions, and in spite of that, we still plan to introduce a white-labeling solution in the future.
Implementing this involves amending our Terms & Conditions, a process that requires time and legal consultation, given that these terms are crafted by professionals. I cannot provide a specific timeline for its release, nor can I specify the options it will encompass. Once launched, it will be promoted on our website and through our social channels.
There are no legal issues in using this plugin. It's not our plugin, so we can't provide support for it, nor can we guarantee the safety of this plugin, but you, as an end user, can use it without entering any legal issues with us.
Thank you for your reply Aleksandar. We love Amelia but the white label solution is the most important thing to our services. Sadly, the white label has been on the roadmap for two years. I hope we can get an official solution as soon as possible. We didn't want to get into legal trouble with Amelia, so we had to ask.
Implementing a white-label feature for a WordPress plugin is a nuanced process due to varying expectations from our customers, which sometimes diverge from our own. Consequently, our development team is carefully reviewing this matter with our management before its potential release.
Another challenge arises from past experiences where white-labeling enabled individuals to resell the plugin as their own, a direct violation of our Terms and Conditions. Despite these challenges, we are actively working towards introducing a built-in white-label solution for Amelia. I anticipate that 2024 will be the year when this solution comes to fruition, although I currently don't have a specific ETA for its release.
Nearly passed a year but white label feature not released. It's really disappointing. Please release public roadmap for Amelia. So you guys can manage our expectations. I believe it's not hard to do that because many WordPress plugin developers doing this.
Thank you for your patience and feedback. We are currently working on many exciting new features and a complete redesign of the Amelia plugin. As a result, we have to carefully delegate priorities for certain features, including the white label option.
We understand your concern, and while we cannot provide an exact public roadmap at this time, we are committed to improving Amelia and ensuring it meets your needs. Stay tuned for future updates!
Great to hear that! Please share more information to us.Which parts will redesign? Please release public roadmap. This way, as developers using Amelia, we can manage our customers' expectations.
Thank you for your message. I understand your request, but we prefer not to release the roadmap publicly at this stage to protect our ideas and upcoming features.
However, I can assure you that the redesign will focus on improving user experience, performance, and functionality to better meet the needs of developers and customers. If you have any specific questions or would like to discuss the changes in more detail, feel free to let me know.
Thanks for your understanding, and I appreciate your patience.
You can definitely reach out to us for updates regarding the redesign process. However, there will be no public testing or small test groups during this period.

Hello Humaid
I'm sorry to disappoint you, but at the moment there are no plans on white labeling the plugin.
It may be included in the developer license at some point in the future, but I cannot provide any ETAs on that.

future in sense in year 3023? There needs to be a roadmap and deadline to achieve this goal. Otherwise the future may ever come.
