I'm struggling with an error I'm getting when trying to use the demo account to access my mysql db hosted on AWS rds. I'm not sure if the server is at fault or something else is wrong but I've repeatedly checked the fields I'm filling in on the "Separate DB Connection" => "Add New Connection" tab correctly. That doesn't seem to be the issue, nor can I find reliable documentation in relation to this. The exact error I'm getting is the following:
"wpDataTables could not connect to mysql server. mysql said: There was a problem with your SQL connection - Permission denied"
I don't believe it has to do with the server allowing remote connections as I've allowed that a while ago for another reason and I can see it is available to the public on the AWS rds dashboard.
wpDataTables are of a big interest to the project I'm working on and before purchase, I need to resolve this issue and make sure I know how to deal with it later. I had a theory that it was a sort of failsafe of the server but like I said, I just can't find any documentation on this. Please advise! :)
The permission denied usually refers to bad credentials, and it is often caused by some special characters in the password.
For example, if you have quotes ( ' ), double quotes ( " ), accent graves ( ` ), and percentage ( % ) it can cause issues like this. If your password contains any of these characters, please change it and try again, and it should work.

Hello Daniel
Thank you for your interest in the plugin.
Kind Regards,
Aleksandar Vuković
