Hey there, Awesome Customers!

Just a heads up: We'll be taking a breather to celebrate International Workers' Day (May 1st and 2nd - Wednesday and Thursday) and Orthodox Easter from Good Friday (May 3rd) through Easter Monday (May 6th). So, from May 1st to May 6th, our team will be off enjoying some well-deserved downtime.

During this time, our customer support will be running on a smaller crew, but don't worry! We'll still be around to help with any urgent matters, though it might take us a bit longer than usual to get back to you.

We'll be back in action at full throttle on May 7th (Tuesday), ready to tackle your questions and requests with gusto!

In the meantime, you can explore our documentation for Amelia and wpDataTables. You'll find loads of helpful resources, including articles and handy video tutorials on YouTube (Amelia's YouTube Channel and wpDataTables' YouTube Channel). These gems might just have the answers you're looking for while we're kicking back.

Thanks a bunch for your understanding and support!

Catch you on the flip side!

Warm regards,

TMS

    Hi there,

I have just bought your WP data tables plug-in and I'm very impressed with it! We are using it for simpler tables based on XL sheets and I am understanding how to do this and how to insert the filters.

We have a premium, more complex, product which is a database compiled in google sheets with seven tabs and one big sheet with about 4000 rows and 20 columns. This is updated quarterly - we add to the contents but the structure of the database does not change

I was interested in using your software to create various views of this showing certain columns but not others and having filters on some columns but not others. This will take some time!

My first question is, when the database gets updated, can we keep the views that we have created and just populate them with the updated data? Or do we need to go through the process of again creating these views?

My second question is simpler, can we show the seven tabs of our google sheet on a single page, or do we need to show then each on a separate page?

Many thanks and congratulations again on a great piece of software!

    regards

    Martin

    Hi Martin,
    Thank you for your purchase.

I am glad that you satisfied with our product.

Just me make some clarification before answer on your questions. When you are working with Google sheets in wpdatatables you have two options:

    1) Creating tables linked to existing data source, in which case you will upload the file and initialize the table, whereupon it will be read every time on page load. Then you can overwrite this file to update the data. Such tables won’t be editable within WordPress, and if they are larger than 3000-5000 rows, the page load and generation time will be slow.
    2) Importing table data to WordPress. The initial data will be read and imported from the provided Google Spreadsheet. You can select to skip certain columns, or add columns. You can edit both the structure and the data within the table at an any point later, but the table won’t be synced with the source file as is the case with the first option; e.g., if you change something in source Google Spreadsheet, your wpDataTable data will stay the same because the data will be already imported to the database.

My first question is, when the database gets updated, can we keep the views that we have created and just populate them with the updated data? Or do we need to go through the process of again creating these views?

Sorry but I do not quite understand what you mean exactly by views? Can you please explain me in little more details or send me some screenshots/screencast, so we can see on what you mean exactly.

    - My second question is simpler, can we show the seven tabs of our google sheet on a single page, or do we need to show then each on a separate page?

Unfortunately we don't have such option, but you can try with some plugin that have this option to show content in tabs and then in each tab insert shortcode of each table that you create from that Google sheet tabs.(You will need to create table from each tab separately)

    Kind Regards,

    Isidora Markovic

Thanks for getting back to me and sorry I should've been more specific.

In simple terms we have a large datasheet where we update the numbers in the cells and add new rows but the same structure and columns remain the same. My plan was to re-import this data sheet as an excel file every three months when it is updated

I have created a pattern of filters and hidden columns that displays the datasheet as we want it. From my experimenting with the software I have concluded that if I use the software to duplicate this wpDataTable, but choose an updated file, the same pattern of filters and hidden columns will be applied. This is what we want as it saves a lot of work.

    Is this correct?

    Many thanks Martin

    Hello Martin

I'll take over from Milan here.

Sure, if you simply overwrite the data of the source (be that an Excel file the table is linked to, or a database table created after import) all filters and table settings will remain the same.

You can't change the structure, so column order and column headers need to remain the same.
