Hey there, Awesome Customers!

Just a heads up: We'll be taking a breather to celebrate International Workers' Day (May 1st and 2nd - Wednesday and Thursday) and Orthodox Easter from Good Friday (May 3rd) through Easter Monday (May 6th). So, from May 1st to May 6th, our team will be off enjoying some well-deserved downtime.

During this time, our customer support will be running on a smaller crew, but don't worry! We'll still be around to help with any urgent matters, though it might take us a bit longer than usual to get back to you.

We'll be back in action at full throttle on May 7th (Tuesday), ready to tackle your questions and requests with gusto!

In the meantime, you can explore our documentation for Amelia and wpDataTables. You'll find loads of helpful resources, including articles and handy video tutorials on YouTube (Amelia's YouTube Channel and wpDataTables' YouTube Channel). These gems might just have the answers you're looking for while we're kicking back.

Thanks a bunch for your understanding and support!

Catch you on the flip side!

Warm regards,

TMS

Upload additional spreadsheet to existing table

Here's the ideal situation. I create an initial table with wpdatatables with Google sheet. Then, I can continue to edit the spreadsheet and it automatically updates to the table, or I can edit or add data directly in wpdt, or upload an additional spreadsheet to the existing table.

Problem with Google Sheets: Why does this have to be published to the web in order to work? I don't want my entire dataset available to search engines and accessible by everyone.

I don't see a way to add another spreadsheet upload to an existing database. I would rather not create multiple databases/tables when everything should be in the same database.

I wasn't able to find an answer in the documentation. What am I missing?
    Thanks.

    Hello Eufemia

The Spreadsheet needs to be published to the web because that is the only way wpDataTables can see it. If the document isn't published, wpDataTables can't connect to it, and fetch the data from it.

You can edit the Google Spreadsheet, and have the data updated in the table as well, if you create a table linked to the Google spreadsheet.

There's cache on Google's side, so when you update the table it might take up to 5-15 minutes to be reflected in the wpDataTable.

These tables are not editable from within the plugin, so if you need to edit the table, you will need to import the Google Spreadsheet, but in that case, the table will not be linked to the spreadsheet anymore. Meaning changes made in the sheet will not be seen in the table, and vice-versa.

If you wish to create a new table from another Sheet in the Spreadsheet, you will need to copy its URL, and there's no way you can include multiple sheets in one table.

    Kind Regards,
