I have a column set as data type URL, and set it to show as a button.
In the back-end, the button shows as light gray background with blue font.
On the public side, the background color is a dark gray, and the contrast makes it difficult to read.
In general Settings>Color and Font Settings, I have set both a background and font color for "Buttons color in modals".
That is ignored. That may be the wrong place to do this, but I can't figure out any other way to change the button color that appears on the public page. If I knew the right syntax to specify these particular buttons, I would try CSS.
I have been through documentation, but can't find how to resolve this.
I did look in our CSS, but could not find where the conflict was.
The correct syntax to use to start out the custom CSS, table.wpDataTable, was what really helped.
The code didn't work until I added a dot, as in .button-color, but that fixed it. Then the color "light-blue" was rendered as a dark gray for some reason, but when I substituted my own choices of hex color, everything was good.

Hello Mark
Issues like this usually occur when there is a conflict either with the theme currently active on your website, or another plugin you have installed.
You could add a custom button class:
Then, in wpDataTables settings/Custom JS and CSS/Custom CSS field, you can define that class. For example:
I hope that helps.

Hi, Aleksandar
I did look in our CSS, but could not find where the conflict was.
The correct syntax to use to start out the custom CSS, table.wpDataTable, was what really helped.
The code didn't work until I added a dot, as in .button-color, but that fixed it. Then the color "light-blue" was rendered as a dark gray for some reason, but when I substituted my own choices of hex color, everything was good.
We're on track now. Thanks for your help!
Mark

You're welcome! I'm glad to have helped.
I can't believe I forgot the dot, though, sorry about that.
If you have any further questions or issues, please feel free to open a new ticket, and we'll gladly help.
