It is extremely frustrating to download your new plugin Master Detail add just to find out that the previous purchase of wpdatatable needs to be upgraded, to then spent over one hour trying to find where to downloaded it again, there are no warnings about upgrading, no links in wordpress for this, could not find a link anywhere, paypal transaction had no links, envato closed my account, ended up looking in email history where I finally found the purchase code so I could finally submit a ticket, if this sounds confusing to you it is because IT IS, and if you want us to recommend your products, you shouldn't make this so difficult.
Now that I vented out my frustration of almost 2 hours, how can I UPDATE WPDATATABLE SO I CAN FINALLY USE THE NEW ADD ON?
I'm sorry to hear you're so confused about the update process.
I'll try to explain in as much detail as possible.
Master-Detail Tablesadd-on clearly states that you need the wpDataTables 2.8 full version to run the add-on:
Due to the nature of WordPress, all plugins should be updated at least once a month, to be able to work with newer versions of WordPress. That doesn't go just for wpDataTables. Older versions of the plugin are not supported, and should only be used for testing purposes.
To receive auto-updates, and avoid issues like this from occurring in the future, you should activate your purchase code through wpDataTables settings/Activation tab.
Since you bought the plugin through Envato marketplace, you don't actually need the purchase code to activate the license. The "Purchase Code" field is reserved for purchases made through our website, and needs to stay blank when you're activating with Envato.
So, all you need to do is click on "ACTIVATE WITH ENVATO", and the plugin will take you to the Envato log-in page, where (upon logging-in) the license will be activated.
WordPress does activation checks a few times a day (it's not automatic), so when you activate your license, it could take a few hours for the activation to be registered, and for the Plugins section to notify you there's a new version of the plugin available. Some installations require the plugin to be deactivated to perform these checks, but by default settings they appear in the Plugins section, next to the plugin name, or in the Dashboard/Updates section:
The add-on is free for manual download and installation, and the location of the download depends on the source you purchased the plugin from. If you purchased it through Envato, the recent version of the plugin can be downloaded from your profile on Envato - this link.
If you had purchased the plugin from our website, the plugin would be available for download from our store - this link.
Installation procedure can be found in our documentation on this page, while the update procedure can be found in our documentation on this page. The update procedure includes links to the download pages, again - depending on where you purchased the plugin from.
Another source of information about installation and updates can be found in the Articles Section, here on our ticketing platform.
I'm sorry to hear you've wasted 2 hours, but all these resources are available to the public.
Thanks for providing this information. However I think you might have missed the part from my message that clearly says my account with ENVATO appears to be blocked, so I have no way to update the original wpdatatable plugin, is there any other option? If not, I guess I just wasted $35 on a plugin I am unable to use due to all the limitations from all sides.
You're totally right - I missed that part. Sorry about that.
Unfortunately, since the purchase was made through Envato, there's nothing we can do about that. The plugin made available there is still available for all active accounts that purchased the plugin through that marketplace. If your account is blocked, you can't access any of the plugins purchased there, neither can you activate the license through our plugin. I suppose it was revoked.
The only thing we can do is to offer a 30% discount on any of our license plans found on our website http://wpdatatables.com/pricing/

To update the plugin, you can either activate it, and wait for the auto-update option to come up in the Plugins page, or you can follow the manual update procedure from our documentation:
