Google Calendar Sync

I have just installed Amelia on the Web site. The API for Google Calendar has been generated and the entries made in the appropriate settings area

Google calendar is sort of syncing correctly with the Amelia calendar

When I create a new appointment in Amelia the appointment appears on the employee google calendar which is great

The events already on Google calendar have been removed from the appointment times on Amelia that are available so this shows the sync is working both ways

The problem is the Google Calendar events are not being displayed on the Amelia Calendar ,  What can we do to overcome this problem?

    Thank you

    Hello,

Even if there is a 2 way sync with Google Calendar... it's not a full 2 way sync.

It means that if you book something inside your google calendar,  you won't see it in Amelia Calendar.  But even if you don't see it, that slot will be considered has "busy" or "booked" in Amelia and won't be proposed again to your clients.

    Kind regards

    (I'm a client - I'm not a part of the customer service)

    Hello Bill Moffatt,

Yes, like Laurent said, unfortunately this is the only thing missing in the 2-way sync - the events created in Google calendar can't be created in Amelia as well. The time slots of these events will be blocked in Amelia calendar but they won't be created as appointments in Amelia. Appointments booked in Amelia are created in Google calendar as well.

If you have any further questions or concerns feel free to ask,

    Hello Marija

Thank you for your followup message.

Yes that is exactly  how we found the system to be operating.

We have worked around the limitation and our system is now LIVE. with some final testing to be completed.

    Kind Regards

    Hello Marija,

I am struggling with the Google sync. Would you ask Amelia to please clarify the functioning of the sync in the support section?  I spent time to set up the 2-way sync, which now turns out to be only a partial 2 way sync.
(The Amelia documentation on implementing the sync needs to be updated by the way.)

My customer is changing from using Google calenders to Amelia. Many future appointments from 4 Google calenders need to be imported into Amelia. Since they are not imported into Amelia with the Google sync, how could I do that beside manually adding each appointment?

    Thanks!

    Hello eigenwijsheid,

Unfortunately, the only thing missing for the sync to be completely fully 2-way is that the Google events are not created in Amelia, but the time slots of the Busy events in Google are blocked in Amelia so they can't be booked there though. Appointments created in Amelia are created in Google calendar.

Google recently added one more step in the creating a Project and taking the API credentials so we didn't add this step yet to our documentation, sorry about that. We will add it as soon as possible.

There isn't an option of importing appointments to Amelia, so you would need to do create them manually in Amelia if you need them there. The time slots of these events from Google won't be available for booking in Amelia if that would help your use case (if you don't need to see the already created Google events in Amelia).

If you have any further questions or concerns please open a new ticket with your purchase code in Amelia section, and we will gladly help!

Hi, what means time slots of the Busy events in Google are blocked in Amelia so they can't be booked there though, internally i can make an appoinment in the same hour of google calendar. I don´t have any limitation of busy events.

    Hello heroseven7,

If the events in the employees' Google calendars are with status Busy and the option Remove Google Calendar Busy Slots  in Amelia -> Settings -> Google calendar settings is enabled, the time slots of these events will be blocked for booking in Amelia. Also, if you have a lot of GOogle events you need to increase the number set for the option Maximum Number Of Events Returned: in Amelia -> Settings -> Google calendar settings.

If you have some issues with this please open a new ticket and we will gladly help.
