    Hello,

I noticed that neither my clients or I am getting email notifications when a service is either booked or pending. My clients also aren't getting the text reminder for their appointment one day prior to this.

    Thanks!

    Hello rnahaylo,

Apologies for replying late, we are not working on weekends.

Could you tell me have you followed the instructions in our documentation for this? Which mail service do you use? We provided there information for Gmail, but if you use some other mail service you should check out their configuration for SMTP communication.

If the above didn't work, the servers sometimes have their configuration for this purpose, and they block SMTP communication through some mail services like Gmail or similar. You need to contact your hosting provider and ask them if they allow sending mails through your mail service and what configuration they require. Sometimes they have their own mail service that you need to use for this purpose.

This is probably the case for the reminder notifications as well. I will copy bellow our instructions for setting up reminder notifications but these notifications require setting up cron jobs and some servers have different configuration for these cron jobs. So, if this doesn't work you need to contact your hosting provider and ask them how to set up cron jobs for your server.

Instructions for setting up reminder notifications:

Scheduled notifications require a bit of additional configuration with your server cron scheduler. The command that has to be added can be found on the “Notifications” page when notification that requires scheduling is active. You can recognize these notifications by the clock icon next to the notification name. Copy command and paste it in the cron file. The command looks like this:

    */15 * * * * https://yourwebsite.com/wp-admin/admin-ajax.php?action=wpamelia_api&call=/notifications/scheduled/send

You can see the more detailed tutorial of how to set up cron at this link.

If you are not familiar with this you can use plugin WP Crontrol for creating a cronjob.

In the Tools -> Cron Events admin panel, click on the “Add PHP Cron Event” tab underneath the cron event table.

    1..png1.-1024x447.png

In the form that appears, enter the schedule and next run time in the boxes. The event schedule is how often your event will be executed. In the “PHP code” area, enter the PHP code that should be run when your cron event is executed. Please insert this:

    file_get_contents("https://yourwebsite.com/wp-admin/admin-ajax.php?action=wpamelia_api&call=/notifications/scheduled/send");

You don’t need to provide the PHP opening tag (<?php).

    2..png2.-1024x454.png

Please replace “https://yourwebsite.com” with your real web address.

If you don’t see a good interval, then add one in the Settings -> Cron Schedules admin panel or click on the link “Manage Cron Schedules”. You will find an example of how you can make custom interval inserting:

    • Interval name
    • Interval(in seconds)
    • Display name
    3..png3.-1024x346.png

and click “Add Cron Schedules” and it will be added.

    4..png4.-1024x123.png

When you made custom interval you need to go back to  Tools -> Cron Events admin panel and click on the “Add PHP Cron Event” tab underneath the cron event table where you will insert that custom interval and all other fields that are described above. After clicking on “Add PHP Cron Event” it will be added on Event table and you are done.

Yes, all this has been done.

    Hello Marina,

If that didn't work it is due to your server's configuration, so you need to contact your hosting provider and ask them about configuration for SMTP communication (sending emails through the server).

The servers sometimes have their configuration for this purpose, and they block SMTP communication through some mail services like Gmail or similar. You need to contact your hosting provider and ask them if they allow sending mails through your chosen mail service and what configuration they require. Sometimes they have their own mail service that you need to use for this purpose.

    Hi Marija,

All has been set up and working properly. Last week email notification stop working. Can you expedite this request to Level 2 support? Also is there a new update coming from Amelia? I am currently running on Version 2.2.

    Much appreciated.

    Thanks

    Hello Marina,

Could you please tell me have you changed anything in Amelia for the notifications (some setting or so)? Or have you changed anything in your WordPress in general, added some plugin or similar? Please check all the settings you set up before for the notifications maybe something was erased or changed in the process.

If you haven't changed anything on your WordPress website, and the notifications just stopped working please contact your hosting provider maybe they changed some setting on the server so that caused the notifications to stop working.

The latest version of Amelia 2.3.2. released 28.11.2019. You can check out the changelog following this link

Can you provide instructions how to install the latest.

    Hello Marina,

My suggestion is to update the plugin manually by following these steps:

    1) Download the zip from our store

    2) Use FTP to open /yourwordpressfolder/wp-content/plugins

    3) Delete existing ameliabooking folder

    4) Upload previously downloaded ameliabooking folder through FTP to plugins folder (unzip it)

    5) Go to WP-admin panel, open Plugins section

    6) Deactivate Amelia Plugin, and then activate it again

    7) Clear server and browser cache

    ___________________________________________________________

If you are using hosting where you are not allowed to your FTP  then follow those instructions:

    1) Download the zip from our store

    2) Delete Amelia plugin from WordPress Plugins page

    3) Click on Add new on Plugins page

    4) Click on Upload plugin on Plugins page

    5) Choose previously downloaded ameliabooking zip file

    6) When uploading is done, please Activate Amelia plugin

    7) Clear server and browser cache.

Please note that if you delete plugin from Plugins page you WILL NOT lose your data, because it is already saved in your database.

Please note that our plugin have a size of around 6 MB so if yo are not able to upload the plugin through WordPress plugins page, then you need to increase following:

    upload_max_file size,

    post_max_size ,

    max_execution_time

You should be able to find these values in your php.ini file or on your hosting panel. If you can't find it yourself please ask your hosting provider to provide it.

If you have any further questions or concerns don't hesitate to ask,

It has been a week now since my clients not getting notifications or reminders. I need to solve the issue today. Again everything was working and then stopped. This not acceptable and not liable plugin at this point and support is not helpful at all.

    Hello Marina,

Amelia can be updated automatically if you activate it in Amelia -> Settings -> Activation. We had issues with auto-update for some servers but it was fixed in version 2.2.1. Maybe this was the case for your server as well, unfortunately. Sorry for any inconvenience this have caused. If you updated Amelia to its newest version, from now you will have the auto-update option available.

We don't have levels in our support system. I responded to each one of your questions and asked questions but got no answers. Unfortunatley, it is not possible that the update mixed up the settings and caused the notifications to stop working. But please provide me a temporary WP-admin login for your site where this happens, so I can check out the settings that you set for the notifications. We do not interfere with any data or anything else except for the plugin (in case that’s a production version of the site), and of course we do not provide login data to third party. You can write credentials here just check Private Reply so nobody can see them except us.

Did you test yourself before responding?

  • [deleted] replied

    Hello Marina,

If that doesn't work and you have set up the plugin for SMTP in your WordPress you need to contact your hosting provider and ask them why the SMTP communication stopped working for your server. Maybe it is the case that they changed some settings for your server so the notifications stopped working. It is probably this since if you haven't changed anything in your WordPress and the notifications just stopped being sent it might be that they changed something for the server.

Also, please check the setup in the plugin I sent you a screenshot of earlier. Maybe you need to change something there. In Amelia WP Mail is chosen now so it uses the configuration set in that other plugin for SMTP communication.

Yes, I tested the 'Test mail' since you sent a screenshot earlier that this isn't working.

Ok I am going to reach out to Google for assistance. Thanks!

    You are welcome, Marina.

Please check the plugin that you have on your WordPress for SMTP communication (Easy WP SMTP) , maybe you need to change some setting there in order for it to work. Since I changed your setting in Amelia to WP Mail, Amelia will use that other plugin configuration for sending emails (SMTP communication).

If this doesn't work, you can contact your hosting provider, I assume it is GoDaddy from the previous tickets that you have here.

Hope this will help and you will solve the issue soon!
