    Howdy!

Since WordPress 5.2 there is a built-in feature that detects when a plugin or theme causes a fatal error on your site, and notifies you with this automated email.

In this case, WordPress caught an error with one of your plugins, wpDataTables.

First, visit your website (https://jclintonhill.com/) and check for any visible issues. Next, visit the page where the error was caught (https://jclintonhill.com/wp-admin/edit.php?post_type=page) and check for any visible issues.

Please contact your host for assistance with investigating this issue further.

If your site appears broken and you can't access your dashboard normally, WordPress now has a special "recovery mode". This lets you safely login to your dashboard and investigate further.

When seeking help with this issue, you may be asked for some of the following information:
    WordPress version 5.3
    Current theme: Velux (version 1.1.3)
    Current plugin: wpDataTables (version 2.7.2)
    PHP version 7.2.15

    Error Details

    Hello J Clinton

Thank you for your purchase, and sorry for the inconvenience.

Can you please tell me if this error is triggered automatically after activating wpDataTables or is there a specific page where it occurs? Also, which version of the plugin are you using? If it's below 2.8, can you please update it?

Please provide me a temporary WP-admin login for your site where this happens, so we could log in and take a look ‘from the inside’ as that’s the most efficient way to see and resolve the issue. We do not interfere with any data or anything else except for the plugin (in case that’s a production version of the site), and of course we do not provide login data to third party. You can write credentials here just check Private Reply so nobody can see them except us.

If the issue occurs right after you activate the plugin, also make sure to provide me with FTP credentials, so if something goes wrong we can remove the plugin, to keep your site up and running.

    Kind Regards,

    it is triggered upon activation.

I have version 2.7.2. However, I have received no update notices for the plugin. I am very diligent about updates.

if i tried to activate it in hopes that i would get a prompt for an update but i got the following warning (see attachment).

    Hi again J Clinton

It looks like some files are missing from the installation. Perhaps it's a broken download, so can you please try downloading the latest version from our store again, and install that?

You will need to remove the existing installation, though. To avoid losing any tables you may have already created, my advice would be to update the plugin manually by following these steps:

IMPORTANT: Do NOT delete the old version from WP-admin (by clicking “Delete” in the plugins page) if you don’t want to lose all your tables!

    1. Download zip from this link

    2. Use FTP to open /your_wordpress_folder/wp-content/plugins

    3. Delete existing wpDataTables folder.

    4. Upload previously downloaded wpDataTables folder through FTP to plugins folder (unzip it)

    5. Go to WP-admin panel, open Plugins section.

    6. Deactivate wpDataTables, and then activate it again.

    7. Clear server and browser cache

IMPORTANT: Do NOT delete the old version from WP-admin (by clicking “Delete” in the plugins page) if you don’t want to lose all your tables!

if you're still facing issues, please provide me wp-admin and FTP credentials, so we can remote in and see what's going on.

Just a reminder, if it comes to that, this is a public ticket, so please make sure to enable Private response when you provide the credentials.

Hello Alex.... I finally took the time to address the issue with WPDataTables and was able to upload plugin to the server like you instructed. However, it appears I have lost all my conditional formatting settings (something that took quite a bit of time to build). Any suggestions? Note that I have lost anything else, but just the color coding I assigned to make the tables more visually efficient to digest.

    Thanks in advance...

    Hello J Clinton.

I believe all that should still be saved in the database, although I cannot say without taking a look.
