I configured my notification settings by the information provided by your guide and I turned on the less secure app option in my gmail settings but no emails are being sent to my customers, I keep getting emails from google saying it’s blocked an insecure sign in attempt and when I try and run a test email from Amelia’s notification page it come back with an error saying email not sent.
Could you please tell me have you tried both SMTP ports 465 with SSL and 587 with TLS?
If you tried all of the options and still have the same issue then I assume that your hosting provider doesn't allow direct SMTP mail service or doesn't allow you to use Gmail SMTP. Maybe you need to use their own mail service, so please contact them and check if this is the case - if they allow using SMTP with Gmail or you need to use their mail service. If you need to use their mail service please ask them for information on Port, Host, etc. This was the case with some hosting providers.
thanks for you help that did the job, all though i do have another issue. Amelia wont load on my website, it does say there's an update available but it keeps asking for my purchase code which I've entered seven times now.
hello,
Please can you help? I followed your guide to help me set up smtp with gmail but it still doesn’t work.
Regards
Darren Frantz
Hello Darren,
Thank you for your purchase!
Could you please tell me what error do you get and where exactly? On what step exactly does the issue come up? Thanks!
Also, could you tell me have you allowed less secure apps in your Google account?
