    Hi,

Thanks for providing a great calendaring tool! My community site has been very positive about it, since we switched over from NewTribe's Event Calendar.

Here is the situation.  We hold online events, and each event or event series has a link for the event attendees to use.

Amelia allows me to set up Event notifications (hooray - you booked an event) and reminders (your event is coming up tomorrow).  Generic text for these notifications has codes to insert the name of the event, and the date and time of the event.

Here is the question: How can I get the event link into these emails that are being sent out???  I can set up a location for each event series that has the meeting link in the location. (though Amelia assumes that the event location is a physical location, not a URL). I tried adding the codes %location_address% and %location_name% (which I see used in the appointment notification emails) to the email notification form, but it does not pick up the event's location.

What am I missing here? How can I prompt Amelia to collect the location for these event notifications in the same way it is collecting the name, date and time?

Thanks in advance for your help!

    Karen

    Hi Karen.

Thank you for your purchase, and for those kind words.

Can you, please, check if the address is being saved?

I'm asking this because I see this:

This is a Google warning, which indicates you don't have the Google Maps API installed correctly.

    1. You need to enable all these APIs in your Google Console:

When you do, you need to insert the Google Map API Key option in General settings of Amelia.

    2. You need to add your billing account? You can read more about this here.

Unfortunately, this is the only way of getting the maps to work correctly. I'll add a link that explains why (it's not up to us, but instead is implemented by Google):

    https://medium.com/swlh/billing-for-all-google-maps-api-price-rise-f80cdd9e5017

    Here's the explanation:

Google has recently announced the launch of its new Google Maps Platform, which “introduces changes to their products, pricing, and support to provide…greater flexibility, transparency, and control.” These changes will affect every individual and every company which is using Google Maps and its API to power functionality on their websites.

The changes to Google Maps kicked in on June 11th, 2018 and require users to create a valid API key for each of their web projects that use Google Maps to display data. You’ll also need to enable billing with a credit card in much the same way that you need to add your credit card details before you start running Google AdWords. Google says that by doing this, you’ll also be able to scale up and down more easily with less downtime and fewer performance issues on your website.

These new requirements mean that Google has stopped offering support for any requests that don’t include an API key. Now that these changes have taken place, calls to the Maps JavaScript API and Street View API return only poor quality maps with a watermark. Invalid requests to the Maps Static API, Directions API, Distance Matrix API, Geocoding API, Geolocation API, Places API, Roads API, and Time Zone API will all return an error.

So, unfortunately until you do this, you will be experiencing error with the location.

    Best regards.

    Kind Regards,
