I am sorry to disappoint you, but unfortunately something like this is not possible with the plugin's built-in features.

If you create a table linked to an Excel file the plugin will be able to create a table from it, and display values from that spreadsheet, but you will not be able to edit that table, nor will you be able to add anything else to it. The file used to generate a table using this method is being stored in ../wp-content/uploads/YEAR/MONTH, so you can modify that file, and wpDataTables will respond and display whatever you modified that file to.

Please note, though that once you create a table from an Excel file, changes in this file, like:

• Changing the column’s name,
• Changing the column’s order,
• Deleting the column, and
• Adding a new column.

are highly not recommended, because the table in the wpDataTable plugin will not work, at the moment. If you make any of these changes, please recreate the table again.
