Your plugin is fairly great and helping me solve a complex issue - but wondering if you'd have a recommendation for the following situation.
I've built the charts/tables using the plugin on the related URL supplied above.
The chart data will be updated once a week.
In a few instances, I need to copy/paste (replace) an entire column of data a week, not just adding a new entry. I see in the excel like view, or regular view, that I can select a column, but I can't copy/paste new values to each cell.
I don't want to replace the chart each week as that's more time consuming to reset the styles of the chart.
To allow a copy/paste of an entire copy - would Google spreadsheet work if I link the sheet data to your plugin, or is there any better way?
Using the Excel-like editor, you should be able to copy/paste rows and cells.
Another way of doing it would definitely be using Google Spreadsheets as a linked data source, but the wpDataTable created from it will not be editable, though.
Please provide me a temporary WP-admin login for your site where this happens, so we could log in and take a look ‘from the inside’ as that’s the most efficient way to see and resolve the issue. We do not interfere with any data or anything else except for the plugin (in case that’s a production version of the site), and of course we do not provide login data to third party. You can write credentials here just check Private Reply so nobody can see them except us.
Thanks @aleksandar - I'll get a login setup for you shortly.
In my attempts to copy/paste an entire column, it only replaced the first cell of the selection. - Not all of them.
Using the google Spreadsheet - if the data in the spreadsheet changes, will it be reflected quickly on the website, or would I need to re-import from google spreadsheet?
I'd like to take a look at the table, since it should copy over all columns and rows, not just the first cell. I just tried it locally, and it's working as expected.
As for Google Spreadsheet - when you link to it, the table will auto-update when you make changes in the sheet.
When using Google Spreadsheets as the data source please note 2 things: 1. The data is read from the data source every time the page loads, so when your tables are large (more then 2000-3000 cells) this source won’t be the right choice since the page with large tables will load slow, or even crash after reaching a certain size. 2. There is a cache on the Google side, so when you update the table it might take up to 5-15 minutes to be reflected in wpDataTable.
While I was able to copy and paste multiple rows from the Google Spreadsheet, it was recorded as:
13.335,00 | 749.906.262,00
And so on.
I don't have editing rights for the spreadsheet, so I cannot say if the format is different. Can you enable editing for [email protected] and I'll take a look at the URL as well, since I'm getting the same error in my local environment.
I sent you access to the google sheet - let me know if any issues.
Keep me posted on the URL.
In terms of copy / paste - did you want to try it in Wordpress in plugin using the table I currently have setup? That's where I noticed it wasn't working ...
So if we can get it to work, then I don't need google spreadsheet, but if it doesn't work, then hopefully we can find a solution for google sheet!
So, it's just the URL from the browser's URL address bar.
As for the copy/paste - I did try it on your website, in the table you created [wpdatatable id=2]. But I copied the Google Spreadsheet data, and it displayed like mentioned in the previous comment.
When I copied the data from an Excel file, it all got transferred over normally (see attached screencast).

HI again Michael.
After I opened the file, I was able to generate a table from it using this URL:
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/18T8PpRyOfM19sgF84kM9bT8EU-52oNn9e9Bv2NbOwVE/edit?ts=5d3f99c8#gid=0
