I have purchased your wpdata tables and when i try to put in activation code is doesn't work. now there is an update in my wordpress site and i cant update the wpdata tables script either.
I see you purchased the plugin through Envato marketplace.
To activate it in main settings of wpDataTables, you need to click on "ACTIVATE WITH ENVATO" right below the purchase code field, since that field is now reserved for purchases made through our website.
Please note, though, that when you activate the plugin it may take a few hours for you to be able to use the update feature in "Plugins" section. This is happening because WordPress does these activation checks a few times a day - it's not automatic. So, if you successfully activate the plugin, and cannot update it right away, just wait for a few hours and try again.
Like I already mentioned - the purchase code field is now reserved for purchases made through our website. So, you shouldn't enter anything in it (leave it blank), just click on "ACTIVATE WITH ENVATO".
It'll take you to the Envato login page, and the activation should be complete.
Just wanted to add that I am and have been having the same problem for two days. Both with an Envato key and a separate TMS key. The registration process confirms activation, but when you go back to update the plugin the setting is deleted and the update fails. This new process is not good.
Can you confirm you tried without the key - and just clicking on the "ACTIVATE WITH ENVATO" button? Users have been experiencing these difficulties when they either add the purchase code and try to activate it like that, or add the purchase code and then click on the button.
To activate with Envato, the purchase code field needs to stay empty, because it takes you to the Envato log-in page, to verify the purchase.
Yes, I have tried both ways. On a new install, there has been no problem, but on an older install nothing but trouble. The older install was purchase several years ago on CodeCanyon and has been kept current, so I tried the Envato way first. It failed to hold the activation. Thinking that it may be part of this new subscription process you created, I purchased a subscription (I needed another license anyway). It too fails to hold the activation.
Just out of curiosity, is the activation stored in the database, or a cookie?
It is not a part of the new subscription process. The only difference between the old activation method and the new one is that we used the purchase code before v.2.5.1 and now we have a button for Envato purchases.
Can you, please, open a new private ticket where we can discuss the details of your account?
Please provide me a temporary WP-admin login for your site where this happens, so we could log in and take a look ‘from the inside’ as that’s the most efficient way to see and resolve the issue. We do not interfere with any data or anything else except for the plugin (in case that’s a production version of the site), and of course we do not provide login data to third party. You can write credentials here just check Private Reply so nobody can see them except us.
While I haven't been able to identify why it happens, I have some additional information. When I save the key to the database it is written as expected. When I attempt an update or after about 4 hours (exact duration tbd) it is removed. I manually updated the plugin and the behavior remains. In wp_options, wdtPurchaseCode has a value that does not get removed, but the product is not showing that it is activated which leads me to believe this is the legacy purchase code.
When you're writing on tickets that are not yours, there is no Private reply option.
Also, this sounds like you're trying to update the Lite version of the plugin. Are you?
Anyway, the issue you're having with the activation doesn't necessarily have to be the same one rwoodw1 is experiencing. With this in mind, can you please open a new ticket, and we will help you there. In that way, issues and questions which are related to different subjects and customers will be in different tickets so other customers or our support agents can find it easily. Our policy is to have one issue or question per ticket because of the reasons that is described already.

Hello again rwoodw1.
We haven't had any issues with plugin activation either for Envato purchases nor the ones made through our store.
Can you, please record your screen (screencast) during the whole process, so I can see what's going on exactly.
Just make sure to enable the Private reply, so it is only visible to us.
Best regards.

Hi again rwoodw1.
Like I already mentioned in one of my previous replies - the purchase code field needs to stay empty.
So, forget you received the purchase code from Envato, and just click on "ACTIVATE WITH ENVATO" button. That should do the trick.
Best regards.
