I'm happy with the Amelia plugin and it helps me to make appointments, but...
Since I put it on my site, I noticed that the page on which it is (included with the tag [ameliabooking]) takes a long time to load the first time you access it. I just did some tests and that is confirmed.
Let me explain : After modifications on my site (update of pages, update of some plugins, etc), I empty the cache with WPRocket and I preload it then. All pages on the site load quickly, except ... the one where the Amelia plugin is called. When I say that it takes a long time, it is especially that nothing of the page does not load (not even the headers) during a certain time (on my platform of test, it puts more than 2min. live it can be 20-30s). Then my page starts to load, and the plugin appears in the right place (with the animation that shows that it loads the availability of the agenda).
I also noticed that this blocking time of the loading of the page seems to intervene only for the first loading of the concerned page on a web browser AND the first loading on mobile format (Responsive with the tools of development of Google Chrome). I hope this only happens in these cases.
The only thing that can be more on this page compared to others is the Amelia plugin. By the way if I delete the tag [ameliabooking], no more problem loading the page.
I did the test by disabling all other plugins and it looks as if WPRocket is enabled and the cache has just been emptied and then pre-loaded so that is where the problem arises.
So it seems that this is a problem between WPRocket and Amelia plugins. A cache management problem?
Where does this problem come from and how to solve it?
Why does not even the headers load itself while Amelia is only one element in the page?
We are located in Serbia and our working time is from 10:00 to 17:00 CET. business days.
Unfortunately the issues like conflicts with third party plugins or themes are always possible due to the nature of WP.
Can you please send me a link of the page where you are using our plugin, so we can investigate?
About the loading first time when you are using cache plugins. When some client(browser) visit your page for first time, and you have a lot of content on that page it will need to load all data for properly showing this page. Every other visit will be faster because browser will use server cache.
I understand your point of view about conflicts between plugins but caching of pages is an important element for site performance and WPRocket is one of the main plugins on this topic.
I think the problem does not occur each time a browser is first loaded, but the first time the page is distributed by the server in traditional format AND in a responsive format.
I continued to investigate and this is a cache problem. If in WP Rocket I exclude the page that contains Amelia, then it loads normally as soon as the first distribution of this page by the server. I also did other tests in the WP Rocket settings: - exclude only the amelia CSS file: no result. - disable the "secure mod for JQuery": no result.
I saw that a public ticket has been opened for minifaction js (https://tmsplugins.ticksy.com/ticket/2015740/). I'm wondering if WP Rocket is not trying to minify Amelia's javascripts when they already are. But I do not know which file path Amelia exclude in WP Rocket to test.
Many wordpress sites use WP Rocket and it is highly acclaimed by specialized sites on Wordpress to improve its performance. Finding the cause of this problem will allow Amelia to be more compatible with well-known plugins from the market and thus certainly to get more users.
Regarding the relevant page of my site, I can communicate it privately. But I doubt that anything is perceptible in front because the cache must be emptied.
Yes as you can see in that ticket our files are minimized because of faster loading.
We are not sure why you have those issues with WPRocket because a lot of our users use it without any issues. WPRocket functionality is not familiar for us, so we are not sure how he minified and compress all files in one in which order.()
I will forward this to my team to investigate, but like I said and it might take significant time to investigate and check is it the issue on our side, to be able to find the source of the problem, especially when the plugin or theme is not familiar to us.
Until that my suggestion is to exclude this page of caching or you can try to exclude JS files that is rendered on front on path:
I just tested with a default wordpress theme (Twenty Nineteen v1.4) and the result is the same.
I also try to exclude from the minification of WP Rocket the javascripts of /wp-content/plugins/ameliabooking/public/js/chunks/(.*).js and /wp-content/plugins/ameliabooking/public/js/frontend/amelia-booking.js. The exclusion of js from the chunks directory does not change anything. On the other hand, when I exclude amelia-booking.js, no more loading time problem but ... no more amelia-booking either on the page ;) Indeed, I think preloading excluding javascript Amelia-booking, the page distributed is the one in preloading and therefore without the plugin since it was excluded ...
Since I have much longer latency on the test machine, the power of the server seems to have an impact on the latency caused. My live site is hosted by OVH and the latency is reduced to 20-30 seconds it seems to me. But it's too much for a customer who wants to book a date to have nothing that loads into the page for 30 seconds...
As a reminder, this latency occurs only after having emptied the cache with WP Rocket and only for the first distribution of the page in classic format and the first distribution of the page in responsive format.
While waiting for your team to find the source of this latency, the workaround is to exclude the page containing amelia from WP Rocket cache management.
Thank you for detail explanation. It is forward to my development team to investigate. Please note that our developers are busy at the moment working on some priority tasks that have to be done for next release which will be very soon. We will try to be as soon as possible.
For now my suggestion is to exclude the page containing Amelia from WP Rocket cache management.
Faced the same problem! WP-Rocket + WP-Amelia = 30 seconds of the page loading... and the problem is indeed with the script file amelia-booking.js
I would recommend that you pay attention to this problem as the WP-Rocket is a very popular WordPress plugins (especially among those users who are ready to pay for such expensive plugins as WP-Amelia).
I'm also interested in this issue. As Artrem said, WP Rocket is basically used by a lot of professionals. I'd like to know more about these performance issues between amelia and WP Rocket.
Unfortunately, there wasn't a way to overcome the caching of that plugin from within Amelia. I will talk to our developers, and ask them to check this out again if it is possible to do anything from within Amelia regarding this matter. For now, you can only try and check if there are some options to exclude/ignore Amelia .js scripts from that caching plugin in order for Amelia to be loaded on the pages . In the attachment you will find which Amelia scripts you should ignore. Please let us know if this helped.
Same issue here, it's having a really negative impact on my site. Didn't realize until I was on Incognito mode that Amelia wasn't even showing the form for our customers (as I was viewing front end when logged in as admin and WP-Rocket not being used), which explains why we've had no appointment bookings during busiest time of year. When I don't minify amelia-booking.js via the WP-Rocket plugin settings it crashes my site for some reason. I think it's vital to make your plugin work seamlessly with WP-Rocket as one of the best plugins around for performance and very well respected.
Thank you for your feedback. Sorry about your experience.
Like I mentioned in my previous response there isn't a possibility to overcome the caching of that plugin from within Amelia, unfortunately. This is forwarded to our developers, so they will see if there is a possibility to implement something regarding this matter in the future releases of the plugin.
If you have any other questions or concerns feel free to open a new ticket and we will gladly help out.
How can you close a ticket without resolving the issue. I have the same problem. 0 bookings since the page does not load with WP Rocket. Can you please look into this matter. Its been over a year now - looking at the history and number of customers complaining about this issue. I have raised multiple private tickets about this issue without any resolution. Please help!!
The tickets are closed automatically if they are inactive for some period of time. Same problem :/ It's a very bad joke !
same problem here.
the booking calendars will not be shown if in "wp rocket" a delayed loading of java script is configured.
see attached picture.
Please provide an exception string (with wildcards) to put in the exception window.

Hello Franz,
The issue is forwarded to our developers, so they will check if anything could be done regarding this conflict from Amelia's side.
This is where Amelia scripts are :
/wp-content/plugins/ameliabooking/public/js/chunks/(*).js
/wp-content/plugins/ameliabooking/public/js/frontend/(*).js
so you can try these out, if that helps.
If you have any other questions or concerns feel free to open a new ticket and we will gladly help out.
Mine only worked after disabling 'Delay Javascript Execution' and 'Combine Javascript files' and adding this line to the excluded files
/wp-content/plugins/ameliabooking/public/js/frontend/amelia-booking.js
There must be some sort of conflict because even adding this line from wp-content into the excluded files, it still didn't work.
Thank you for sharing that, Leonardo.
Hello. I still experience this problem. any updates?
Hello Wojciech.
