I had an email saying theree was an update for wpDataTables and downloaded the plugin zip. I then tried to upload it to my WordPress site and was told:
Fatal error: Cannot redeclare wdt_register_widget() (previously declared in /home/moxonsw/public_html/wp-content/plugins/codecanyon-3958969-wpdatatables-tables-and-charts-manager-for-wordpress/wpdatatables.php:106) in /home/moxonsw/public_html/wp-content/plugins/wpdatatables/wpdatatables.php on line 109
I'm very sorry, but this is all well above my pay grade. Despite trying a number of times, I could not connect to my website by FTP, so all I've managed to do so far is to delete the wpDataTables folder from the plugins folder, which of course means that I do not have the plug-in at all now.
And every other plug-in I've ever used, there is an option within the plug-in to update it, and this does not seem to be available, or does not seem to work, with wpDataTables. Being unable to update manually, it seems to me that my only recourse will be to delete the old version from my sites WordPress admin panel and recreate the tables that I already have: unless you can suggest an alternative way of doing this.
An update! I was looking at my WordPress admin panel for something else, and because the folder had been deleted from my server of course it told me that the wpDataTables plug-in did not exist. So I uploaded the new version zip file and, happily, everything worked normally after activation, or my tables were present, displayed normally and so on. So my problem is now solved and I'm back in business, but may I hope that things might be easier in future?
Good news. Just, please don't delete the plugin from the Plugins section of your dashboard. I don't know how the tables remained saved, but this usually deletes all the tables.
For future auto-updates just make sure to click on ACTIVATE WITH ENVATO in main settings of wpDataTables, and it should allow you to update the plugin manually in the future.

Please advise.
Hello trevorjordan.
Thank you for your purchase.
Have you tried the manual update?
IMPORTANT: Do NOT delete the old version from WP-admin (by clicking “Delete” in the plugins page) if you don’t want to lose all your tables!
1. Download zip from this link
2. Use FTP to open /your_wordpress_folder/wp-content/plugins
3. Delete existing wpDataTables folder.
4. Upload previously downloaded wpDataTables folder through FTP to plugins folder (unzip it)
5. Go to WP-admin panel, open Plugins section.
6. Deactivate wpDataTables, and then activate it again.
7. Clear server and browser cache
IMPORTANT: Do NOT delete the old version from WP-admin (by clicking “Delete” in the plugins page) if you don’t want to lose all your tables!
Please download the zip file again - there may have been an error during download that caused this to happen.
Please let me know how it goes.
Best regards.
Kind Regards,
Aleksandar Vuković
