Can you please send us that Excel file, so that we can try re-creating it locally?
Also, you said you tried importing the file - that means you used the third option when creating the table (Create a table by importing data from data source), correct?
I used the First Option - Create a table linked to an existing data source.
in one of the columns there are hyperlinks behind the text, along with other text
eg "This cell contains a link to Amazon" (with the word Amazon being a hyperlink to http://www.amazon.com)
when I import the data I get "This cell contains a link to Amazon" and the word Amazon has no hyperlink
if I create a spreadsheet with a Links column - links only import if they are explicitly in the format http://linkname.com, not if they are a text label with a hyperlink behind it
Yeah, I see; the issue here is that this column is being recognized as a "String", which it should be, given that it contains text and only one word contains the hyperlink.
So, in order to use that link in wpDataTables, you need to create the table using the third option (Create a table by importing data from data source), and then edit the entries, but in this manner:
This cell contains a link to <a href="http://www.amazon.com" target="_blank">Amazon</a>
It's not possible to keep the hyperlink other than what you already mentioned:
if I create a spreadsheet with a Links column - links only import if they are explicitly in the format http://linkname.com, not if they are a text label with a hyperlink behind it
trying to import Excel spreadsheet but column contains text and hyperlinks - hyperlinks are lost when I import the data
