I asked wordpress about the issue. They investigated and got the following
Here's what it produces on
the back end on WordPress.com: WordPress database error You have an error in
your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MariaDB server
version for the right syntax to use near 'FOREIGN KEY (userId) REFERENCES
wp_amelia_users(id) ON DELETE CASCADE' at line 1 for query ALTER TABLE
wp_amelia_providers_to_daysoff ADD COLUMN FOREIGN KEY (userId) REFERENCES
wp_amelia_users(id) ON DELETE CASCADE made by activate_plugin,
do_action('activate_ameliabooking/ameliabooking.php'), WP_Hook->do_action,
WP_Hook->apply_filters, AmeliaBooking\Plugin::activation,
AmeliaBooking\Infrastructure\WP\InstallActions\ActivationDatabaseHook::init,
AmeliaBooking\Infrastructure\WP\InstallActions\DB\AbstractDatabaseTable::init,
dbDelta
Hopefully this helps you diagnose and fix the problem..They also identified that the following looks like the same problem
I posted another message with more information that you can see below.
Wordpress is hosting my website and they looked into the problem and reported the followinhg

This appears to be working now. I have been able to add a service and an employee which I was not able to do previously.
I can now go ahead and set up some calendars. I'll get back to you if I have further problems
This however has thrown up another question. The currency that comes up is $ but I want to use £UK. Do I change this in Amelia or Wordpress. This is important as we hope to charge for use of our services through Amelia
I have had a pretty good go at configuring Amelia and if I can get it to work it will be a really good tooll for us. However I cant get it to work.
I have listed below the various issues that I am having. I cant tell if these are finger trouble problems, problems with wordpress or issues with the plug in. Can you please advise.
Thanks
Alastair
Dashboard. Appears to work ok with the proviso that I have not been able to create a booking due to other issues
Calendar Appears to work ok with the proviso that I have not been able to create a booking due to other issues
Appointments Appears to work ok with the proviso that I have not been able to create a booking due to other issues
Employees When setting the phone number. UK is selected as the country with the UK flag. The country code is +44 with a phone number 07977 142021. After the employee details are saved, the flag switches to the Guernsey flag which has the same country code. This will be confusing for customers and users who are not familiar with the Guernsey flag.
Services This appears to be ok
Locations When the name is entered as Bridgend & District Golf Club
and the address is entered as:
Willowdean, Bridgend, Linlithgow EH49 6NW, UK
it shows correctly on the Google map. However, under the map there is a message “This is not the right address”. When SAVE is selected, the location does not save.
The only way to close the window is to select CANCEL and the location is not saved.
Customers There is the same problem with the phone country code as mentioned above for Employees.
The use model is that we do not know who the customer will be therefore this information cannot be pre- prepared. We need to collect this information at the time of booking along with other customer details.
Finance Appears to work ok with the proviso that I have not been able to create a booking due to other issues
Notifications I have tried sending a test email butt this did not work.
Customize Colours and Fonts Appears to work ok
Custom field settings It is not altogether clear how this is meant to work, particularly for Checkboxes and Radio Buttons. As an example, I want to have a radio button where the customer would indicate if they are a member or non-member. I have tried several combinations of the settings and I can’t get this to be represented. Similarly I would like to have a checkbox so that customers can indicate that I can keep their details and send them emails in the future.
Settings
Company Settings Same problem as above for phone number country
Making a booking Now the interesting bit when it comes to making a booking.
The wizard does a great job of making a booking and calculating the correct price.
When the booking form comes up, the First Name, Last Name and email fields are pre-populated with the wordpress login details, these details should not be shared with customers. The fields should be blank for customers to enter their details.
There appears to be some remnant of custom fields but not what was set up in the Custom Fields Settings
When Confirm is selected, the hourglass and countdown timer shows but does not complete. The plugin appears to have locked up and I have to abort the booking.
You wrote a lot of things, so we need to login and check it out.
Please provide me a temporary WP-admin login for your site where this happens, so we could log in and take a look ‘from the inside’ as that’s the most efficient way to see and resolve the issue. We do not interfere with any data or anything else except for the plugin (in case that’s a production version of the site), and of course we do not provide login data to third party. You can write credentials here just check Private Reply so nobody can see them except us.
Amelia pro is successfully installed and activated in wordpress. I am using the dyad 2 Theme and the website is working very well.
I want to use the Amelia calendar capabilities which is a very good fit for managing bookings at the golf club.
Whenever I try to configure settings, add a service , add a employee or other initialisation, I get an error message , typically error 500
Please advise how I can get beyond this and start using Amelia

Hi Alastair,
Thank you for your purchase.
From error that you provide we suppose that on your server is not enabled pdo_mysql module for your PHP.
Can you please check with your hosting provider to enable this module and our plugin should be working fine.
Did you maybe host your website on wordpress.com?
Best regards.
Kind Regards,
Isidora Markovic
