Column width when table width not limited limited

    Hi Aleksander,

I am having an issue with large tables. The plugin allows you to have unlimited  table width and allows you to configure a scrolling area - so far so good.

However this comes with one major limitation: when table width is set to unlimited, it is not possible to limit column width. So if I for example have a text column populated with long text strings (e.g. a description column), the column will display as wide as the longest value in that column in the current query result. This essentially defeats the purpose of having the large table in a scrolling region.

My current workaround is to edit each of these fields manually inserting carriage returns which shortens up the column width - I suspect you agree that this is not a very good solution !

I would say when a table is in unlimited width mode, there should at least be max width setting for each column.

Is there any way to get around this limitation?  Could it be included in the next release?

    Thanks

    Dennis

    Hello again Dennis.

I am sorry to disappoint You, but if You enable the scrollable option, there is no way You can adjust the table width for each column.

I can offer another solution, though.

You can change the tablet and mobile width to that of an actual desktop PC and enable responsiveness. That way, You can set the column with a lot of text be hidden until You'd click on a "+" sign. It would then open the column and display the content.

I know it is not what You were hoping for, but for now it is the only other solution other than scrolling horizontally for too long.

You can see what I mean if You look at the video (around 1:05) in our documentation.

Please let me know if this would help in any way.

    Best regards.

    Kind Regards,

    Hi Aleksandar,

Thanks for your prompt reply. Would it be difficult to add this feature in a future release? It just seems so obvious, but perhaps it is technically difficult to achieve?

    Anyways, I appreciate your help.

    Thanks

    Hello again Dennis.

I will forward the idea to our development team. We do follow customers requirements and try to implement most of them if they appear in requests from time to time.

We will add this one to our list of ideas to maybe implement in one of our next releases.

    Best regards.
